I'm happy with his appointment. Our recent history is littered with big name managers, most of whom have failed miserably. I think Bain has gone down the right road to recruit a man who knows the league and is experienced at building teams on a low budget. He is the right man at the right time as our club embarks on a major rebuild. Good luck Simon...... KTF
Nowt against Grayson, he has my full backing. But we've still got Short, we've still got debt and we're still skint as a result. Can't start a new era until the present one finishes. We're still shackled imo.
I am totally sick of the big named ****ers who have let the players walk all over them only Paulo stood up to the tossers but I don't believe the fans will be as quick to jump on Graysons back this time after seeing the s hit the " big names " have left us in.
Don't see it that way Bri we should be top of the prem the amount of money we have spent on the previous s hite we only need decent players who play together and die for each other we will get some of them for next to nowt if Grayson knows where to look same as Cloughie did with Forest.
Just watched the interview, seems a likeable guy, speaks positively and optimistically. Got my 100% backing Hope short backs him financially
He was far from my first choice but he'll be getting my full support. The fact that he has agreed to take on the job despite the restrictions he'll be working under and the chaos at the club at the moment suggests he has confidence in his own ability, and that he genuinely wants to manage Sunderland, which is more than can be said for some of the other names in the running.
Like I said, nowt against Grayson, you don't need to keep defending him, I'm not attacking him. He's had nowt to spend with PNE and they've stalled a bog standard championship club showing running on a budget can only take you so far imo. As I've been saying for ages that's all Short needs while deals with the debt, we've got no ambition from the board for the club at the moment so how can we push forward? We're going nowhere while Short is still at the club for a while to come. Because no amount of managers will solve the off field problems. That will either be sorted quickly by Short selling, or over a period of years with Short here. Short's still here. Top and bottom for me is the struggle continue until we've got our house in order.
To me accepting the manager's post with you lot is not necessarily a proof of confidence. I would still accept the job knowing even if I don't deliver and the owners decide to toss me I would still walk away with the dosh. And when the guys fail, some of you guys will be sympathetic with your new manager considering he will not be given much to spend. All the best all the same!
Good appointment. He will already know who he wants to sign and I suspect that he will have had some assurances from Short on finances. Even just being told that he can have a good percentage of the sale fees might be enough - some of Khazri, Borini, Kone, Pickford, Lens, Oviedo, Djilobodji, Cattermole are likely to be moving on and that'll be over 50m (including Pickford). Even half of that would be a windfall compared to what I think he's worked with in the past.
Didn't realize I was defending Grayson mate just don't think we are as doomed as you think we are but then I didn't think Moyes was right for us from the beginning.
Tend to agree but I hope I'm wrong. Anyway Short should know things don't go according to plan here so we'll end up as Champions or we fall flat on our faces and flop big time. Now Grayson has been appointed I do like the positive words I'm hearing from Grayson and his right hand man has tagged along. I'm starting to feel better about things but only when I don't think too much
I never said we're doomed at any point. I don't think we'll get relegated again or anything like that. Nowt's changed other than we've wasted a piss load of time yet again. I just think nothing is changing off the pitch so we'll continue to be limited on it, given the fact that since Short has tightened the purse strings to deal with the debt we've got worse on the pitch(Undeniable surely we were relegated on this model). Not saying it's not necessary but until that's sorted I've seen nothing to surgest anything other than the current continued slog while Short pays the debt and tries to find a buyer. Ultimately my point is we're not a club set up to progress on the pitch, we're a club which is set up to cut costs and pay off debt. Don't think I'm a doom monger for not expecting much to change. I think it's pretty balanced myself. Once Short or the Debt is gone. It's just going through the motions until are new era can finally be triggered and we can invest in our future instead of cost cutting to fix the past.
A good summary of Grayson - really hope he can sort us out which is no easy job. But the facilities are here just missing a magician at the helm to pull them together .
