Had some good banter the last couple of days and can't believe we generated 30 pages ( and counting) on one topic, lets just hope he signs and does the business eh?

    All the best.

<ok> Not sure what that has become since the new one opened, I got told there was a new housing estate built on top of it but I determined that to be bullshit.

EDIT quick google shows it is a still a hospital, giving psychiatric care to the elderly.

I had my thumb socket reconstructed there about 8 years ago, in and out the same day. Did a decent job, I can use it again anyway and it looks normal. I know they closed the A&E department.

Aye the "new" hospital is now used solely for day case surgery, or so I am led to believe.

Sunderland race to register Jermain Defoe in time for Spurs clash
Striker could miss out on making debut against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday if Jozy Altidore's move to MLS side Toronto FC is not completed in time

Sunderland are in race against time to get Jermain Defoe registered in order to make his debut against former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Defoe has passed a medical and agreed personal terms on a three-and-a-half year contract after leaving MLS side Toronto to return to England. The striker visited the club’s training ground on Thursday, has met his new team-mates and wants to play this weekend.

However, Sunderland cannot complete the necessary paperwork to register him as their player until Jozy Altidore has finalised the details of his switch to Toronto.

Sunderland have agreed a straight swap deal with the Canadian franchise to sign Defoe, with Altidore going in the opposite direction.

The 25-year-old scored just one Premier League goal in a year and half on Wearside and although he was popular with the club’s supporters, Sunderland are delighted with the deal they have done.

Telegraph Sport understands that, while there have been reports Defoe will be paid £80,000 a week on Wearside, his basic wage is considerably less.

The 32-year-old is itching to make his debut against Spurs, having spent the last few weeks training with his former club in order to maintain fitness ahead of any move.

Altidore, though, must also sign for Toronto before the weekend, with Sunderland needing to register Defoe with the Premier League before midday on Friday.

They will then have until Saturday lunchtime to get international clearance from Fifa and there is a chance they will not get all the paperwork completed in time.

Should they fail, Defoe is still likely to train with Sunderland on Friday, but will have to wait until next weekend’s FA Cup fourth round tie againstFulham to make his first appearance for the club.

Sunderland expect to know whether Altidore’s move to Toronto has been completed on Friday morning, but the deal also has to be ratified by the MLS.

Black Cats manager Gus Poyet is also keen to name Defoe in his squad, although the former England international is likely to be limited to a substitute’s role.

The signing is a gamble by Sunderland given the player’s age, but Poyet has been arguing for months that he needed another striker and Defoe is a completely different type of forward to current first choices Steven Fletcher and Connor Wickham.

I post when I choose, I never said I would leave the board for ever.
As people, on here, know I stopped posting because of the idiotic posters who were swamping this board.

Enough decent people asked me to return, so I did.
Your mate Sombrero said he would never post on here again <ok>
