    I don't think Blackburn, Utd or Spurs can be accused of buying the league in the same way as Chelsea and City.

    Real Madrid you can.

    Agreed, thats why I said to a lesser extent Man U. I didnt say Spurs bought the league....just that they can hardly be accused of being shy of spending.

    Finally, Jack Walkers Blackburn set the precedent for using financial muscle to make a team come from nowhere to becoming champions (a la Chelsea...and maybe Man City this year).

    My point was, as annoying as it may be to have a team buy success, City can hardly be accused of being the first.

    City are certainly not the first but the extent to which they have spent eclipses all the others (except Chelski). City have bought 2 full teams of top internationals and more, and it is effecting everybody, not just the title race but the CL places. ie the City player who is propelling Spurs into the CL a player who they could not afford to buy and could certainly not afford the wages. IMO the loan system should be stopped for players over 23 but thats another issue!
