Sacking the manager is not the solution.

What we need now is POSITIVE thinking and talking! All this season I have heard: Injuries etc (of course we got loads of injuries!) - youngsters need breaking in slowly - working on defensive issues etc etc etc! Everything being said had a NEGATIVE spin on it. When was the last time you heard - yes our youngsters are being thrown in at the deep end ... but ... they won the double last season playing good football and are good enough to be in the first team ... OR - we have worked on attacking formations and set pieces at training and we are going out to attack ... OR ... I know we are short of experience ... BUT ... these guys ARE good enough to do the job! Negativity breeds negativity! Everything said is about defense and inadequacies, apathy and injuries .. oh poor sad old Rovers! FFS - get a positive thinking person in there - tell them they are good enough, work on attacking - cos sure as hell defending ain't working! Big up everything POSITIVE thoughts = POSITIVE actions! I think (someone will correct me I'm sure!) that I counted (from stats) that we had 10 shots on target in the first 5 games = 2 shots on target per game! Wow - were gonna win a lot of games like that! One up front - AT HOME!
Last season JW saved us because he sorted the defense out and we managed to stop the flow of goals. For some reason it hasn't worked as well this season, so why don't we go out and play some good positive attacking football? Even if we lose 4 - 5, at least we have given it a go, and the supporters will be behind the team. At the moment the supporters are dropping off like flies (me included!) because a 120 mile round trip and £40 - £50 can't be justified watching what I can only describe as boring dross! Get some excitement back in the game and perhaps come Saturdays I will get the urge to make the effort! UTG!

Rhinestone are you really a true blue nose.

if not support a club near to where you now live, no offense as you are entitled to your opinion, but your comments are as negative as the football you are describing.

Sometimes football is boring, sometimes injuries have an adverse affect on the way the manager sets the teams tactics and formation.

Ward clearly knows what he is doing if you look at last seasons results from bottom to 11th and only losing was it 5 games sorted the defence midfield and attack out, promo form gave us our club back, then injuries took the heart out of the team and we had very little money due to the wage cap to get players in to help us through the difficult time,Ward even had to play players out of position to get a full compliment on the field, the bench at times was full of young untried youngsters from the youth team no game changers avaliable.

We also could not get rid of the high wage earners Gill Kenneth and the likes as they were carrying injuries!

Take a chill pill there is no overnight solution to our current woes other than attracting a decent striker to our club who knows where the goal is and Ward already knows this but has little in the kitty to bring a decent one in.

Rhinestone Gas makes 120 mile round trip, to watch your team and you stayed in last season to watch Man U v Arsenal and because it was cold, and you have the cheek to ask him if he's a real fan <laugh>

I pity him if he sits next to you when he takes that round trip Mr Boring

Tanks RoD - as for CoR - yes I am a true blue! I have supported Rovers since about 1966/67, and while I lived in Bristol I was a season ticket holder. Over the years I have strived to get to every match I could make! I started traveling to away matches in the late sixties to places like Halifax, Mansfield and Shrewsbury. I went to Newcastle on a Tuesday night ( the day Bobby Moore died) in the early 90's ... so yes I think I can say I am a true blue. I know this club has had a few "highs" and lots of "lows" overs the years, and wish I had a solution to whats gone wrong - I ain't blaming anyone ... just stating that everything has a negative spin on it ... wheres the positivity - answer me that! I have NEVER booed at a game - that is not my style, but to travel a fair distance to be served up "dross" football is NOT my idea of a good Saturday. Last year I traveled to Fleetwood and Morecambe (did u go CoR?), and with only 6 players on the bench, and plenty of youngsters in the team, we took the game to them and won 3 - 0 (at Fleetwood!). It was exciting and bold and worth traveling ALL day to watch, and if the team played like that (or even 50% like that) then I wouldn't be making these comments, and we wouldn't be having this discussion. This season I traveled to Plymouth .. and the most exciting thing about the day? ... mmm let me think .. sorry can't think of ANYTHING to say about the football (positive at least) so CoR, why should I pay my hard earned cash, travel for hours on busy roads to watch something akin to pulling out teeth?? That ain't NEGATIVE - that is the truth as I see it! Obviously you see it differently - I'm just saying how I see it! I am as frustrated and down heartened as most gasheads are, at the "football" on show!
CJS - perhaps I should have remained a reader and not joined back in! Feel rather saddened that someone can question my loyalty of being a "gashead", after all these years - still I have many friends in the Blackthorne end, and eventually (and I will) get back to Bristol to cheer on the gas. I live quite near to Salisbury - maybe if they play good football (which I've heard they do), I should go there - perhaps CoR should make the trip with me and we can discuss football tactics and the merits of actually playing attacking football! Have a nice day you all! I can't make it today as I have to work (start at Two!) but I shall be itching to get near a Radio or a TV to get updates on the game!

Rhinestone-apologies questioning your credentials, perhaps I was just fed up reading all the negative criticism and your post received some of my frustration with the posts.

As for the current entertainment on show it does not make the heart sing with joy I can empathise with that view,I do not think it is as awful as when we nearly got relegated two seasons in a row at that time we also could not pentrate the final third and the defence was pants if you remember then we the supporters share scheme funded the wages for Rambo to get us out of the mire,a striker is the thing we need now.

Other than the weather I feel positive about the game vs Chesterfield today (no real reason other than blind faith) and hope that we have something to cheer about a couple of goals, perhaps even a scrappy win.Hopefully listening on the radio is not as stressfull as watching the game!As for the travelling distance I have done that journey to Salisbury and back more times than I care to remember its quite a dangerous road being mostly single lane other than four or so spots lorrys and slow vehicles increase the journey time so I can understand why you dont always have the will to spend the time in car and waste money on the current lack of entertainment as for me I feel guilty if I miss a match home or away but I have done sometimes especially under Mcghee towards the end, what is the point you dont get that time back!

Keep the faith and continue posting . positive thoughts.jpg
