Ask me when the fixtures come out....A few early defeats to the newbies like Wrexham, and either Charlton or Orient, followed by bummings at the likes of Narwych and Coventry it could be quick...

January, just a smidgen too late for his replacement to sort any players before the window shuts

So January 1st then?
If it's different next year because of the Euros or whatever then fair enough, but it closed 3rd Feb this year so my (clearly poor if I need to explain it) cynical and not in any way serious point was that it would be tantalisingly close to being able to effect changes, but just too late to sort them in time.

I'm hoping he, or whoever we actually appoint in reality, is brilliant and still in place in 2 or 3 year's time.

I'm optimistic and off the chart. I think this manager will be so successful he'll be here until at least August 2026 by which time we'll be in the Premiership. I base that prediction on the knowledge it will be a fair and non-discriminatory interview process which ensures all candidates are assessed on their merits and potential, not personal characteristics or biases. The brain team are instructed to favour the cheapest candidate possible and ideally someone from an ethnic minority background to take the heat off the owner. If unable to work to these guidelines carry on as in previous years and just draw a name out of a bag.

No, I got it, I was being sarcastic, if he sacks whoever January 1st, it’ll take 4 weeks to sort a replacement & then he’ll make signings on deadline day.

Reactions: Help!
Depends more on the signings we make and when we make them as opposed to who we hire. If we repeat last summer it doesn't matter who we bring in as manager - they wouldn't stand a chance.

I'm more concerned with shifting out some deadwood and making effective signings in key areas than anything else. If we can get that right, and bring these players in before the season starts then the manager will have a fighting chance. If we leave it all too late, make too many changes to the squad and persist with some of the players that have been frankly piss poor for us then we're on a hiding to nothing again.

That said, I've gone with November. I can see us ****ing about too much with the squad again this summer and what little team cohesion we have further evaporating.
