I said Tommy lost confidence IN players, not lost the confidence OF players ... I was simply quoting what he actually said, as he was sending a message to his players that they are not immune to being benched ... put's a different slant on things Radz is God
Fair enough Billy , I do have a few points to make then. Has TC actually said he's lost confidence in the players or is that just an interpretation of your own ? In the Bristol City thread you had numerous pops at Phillips about how he hasn't done anything and yet TC has continued to pick him and you also said that in your opinion you expected us to get swamped in that game, and you were fcucked off with the team selection and you felt TC was creaking. I can understand that when someone questions a post on here, it's natural for the opportunity to question the intentions of the questioner. My point is that you are a positive poster and hence your posts on the Bristol city thread stood out to myself because your multiple posts were not what I would expect. Two weeks later you are back to posting in your positive style but I don't understand what has changed in that time. If you were just having an off day prior to the Bristol game and posted stuff you didn't mean then fair enough, but if your comments that day were legitimate concerns then I am unable to see what has changed since then for your positivity to return. Just to put my own cards on the table, I felt Rad's was being optimistic with his were aiming for the playoffs, given the appointment of TC and the new signings, I have no issue with us finishing mid table this season as I feel that both manager and team need this season to bed themselves in, so whilst I'm a pessimist when it comes to stuff to do with our club, I'm not calling for a manager to be sacked or for individual players to be dropped (there are those that I would prefer to play in place of others, but that's a personal opinion) I just feel that this season is not going to be the easy ride that some folk think based on where we finished last year, and the only reason I highlighted your posts is that the numerous posts you made on the Bristol thread appeared to be so out of character, that they stuck in my head and thus I recalled those when I saw you had returned to your positivity. This has also been posted prior to Brentford game, so when we win 7-0 don't anyone think they can use the result in answer to my post
hi bud ... I was genuinely fcuked off that Phillips was selected at Bristol, because he had drifted into his lazy habits in the prior games ... he was used at Bristol more as a high pressing DM than a proper 10, and he produced one of his rare hard grafting displays ... the high press worked against Bristol because everyone pushed up together and worked hard, and Bristol's lack of quality meant that they were conceding possession in their own half ... this meant Leeds could counter from advanced positions and thus dominate and apply pressure ... we saw similar performances at Forest and Sunderland of course, I was pleased that Phillips put in a shift at Bristol, but then the lazy, slow and frustrating Phillips returned once again and this is really worrying ... my issue with Phillips is twofold: a) he is inconsistent, and lives off his good performances for three or four games before pushing himself again ... unfortunately this contributes to costing us points, and it is als contagious amongst the team b) he is not a defensive midfielder because he doesn't sense danger ... two examples of this are goals conceded at Wednesday and Brentford where he allowed balls to pass across him in the box because he simply didn't sense danger ... for the Wednesday goal, their first one knocked in by Hooper, the popular blame was aimed at Wiedwald, but the keeper had been hung out to dry by a switched off Phillips so, I am not being negative when I say Phillips needs to be benched, I am being realistic due to what I see ... Phillips is not an enforcer like a Batty, he is off the pace too often and his subsequent frustration makes him reckless in a tackle ... Batty wasn't blessed with pace, but he sensed danger and read where the threat was going to be, allowing him to make the tackle and then lay off a positive ball the kid needs to stop reading the hype and start to knuckle down, because the potential is there but the laziness that creeps in will prevent him becoming a top player if he doesn't wise up Radz is God
