Didn't play with the same intensity as the first leg? Also the game was crying out for Dyer and Rangel at half time, Tiendalli hopefully will be shipped out at the end of the season. Why Monk decided to go with Taylor is beyond me, and why did we sit back and invite all that pressure on our back four? who's idea was that, we can never win a one goal lead, tactics were suspect tonight, but then I got the feeling from the team line up that we had one eye on the Palace game, clearly it's all hands on deck for staying up. Regarding Michu, I've heard that his head is in the shed since breaking up with his girl friend? Back and forth to Spain with all the issues related with family and girl friend, why can't he keep it off the pitch? We could do with him helping our team get over the finishing line!...............
huge game Sunday but confident we can get the three points. Palace obviously a different side under Pulis so I think it will be close but we definately have the talent to win. Tonight was dissapointing in many ways, the fact we came so close, the fact we were unable to play our first choice team and more than anything the fact that European games like this won't be along again for quite a while! Still, very proud of the team and their achievements, we can look forward to Sunday in the knowledge we can hold our heads high despite losing and have absoloutley nothing to fear in tom ince. He's obviously a decent player albeit with a big mouth and he'll get the respect he deserves as an opponent but we've faced and dealt with far far superior players throughout this season.
Agree with your comments on the substitution. As soon as Taylor came on it removed the counter attack threat which we had posed. We sat further back and allowed Napoli to attack with confidence knowing we were less likely to hurt them on the break.
Sweden, Romania, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, Italy It's been a good adventure. If our finishing were a bit more clinical we could now be adding Portugal to the list as well.. Spurs seem to have turned it round - now winning 3-1!
The substitutions weakened our attacking threat which was apparent to everyone which was our strength , we were all over the shop defensively and by taylor going on ironically played into Napoli's hands .No disgrace in the manner that we lost but we could and should have gone further than just tonight .
Overall it was an excellent performance but poor substitution handed the momentum to them and cost us.
Agree completely, seems we had one eye on the Premier League, clearly Monk is under strict orders to save our PL Status!.......
Was bloody gutted. I thought we had a great chance to beat them - we were very good. No excuses in the league now - full strength squad every match.
I watched it live and while at first I thought it was a definite pen, it looked soft on the replay. I thought bringing on Poz was an odd choice to be honest, but the other two subs were probably correct and I can't blame Monk for making them. EDIT - Actually forgot about Taylor, not sure why he made that sub at all. Regardless, it's not like we were blessed with a million choices to change our game.
Shocking decision by Monk to bring on Taylor, cost us the game. Leaves me nervous about the run in, two games lost and we could be down there. I hope the team does not lose confidence in Monk, one win in six is not good.
Was worried about a knock Britton took late in the Liverpool game.Must have been right as Britton didn't even make the bench in Naples . Anyone know the scoop with Leon , hope it's nothing that keeps him away for any length of time as we need his imput to weld the team together at this crucial period of time.
