The difference of 10% and 15% to the running of the club is immaterial. And I feel that saying he’s not professional just cos of his age is a little presumptuous. He may be incredibly professional and hire brilliant people, we don’t know yet. Just like we didn’t know if FPP would’ve been good. He’s got billions of pounds and so I find it hard to be underwhelmed with this, considering how desperate we have been for change for so long.
@Prehab26 knew the identity of the potential new owners so now that this lad has been announced he might be able to tell us who the others are? Either way I dont understand people being unhappy when this lad is a billionaire on his own, Sartori is almost, if not a billionaire and then there are others in the consortium who are probably super rich. This is great news and we only know part of the story!
I prefer to remain optamistic, he might be young but we don't know who makes up the full group. Regardless of age, if he puts the right peiople in place and a blue print for the club from top to bottom that hopefully focuses on the academy it doesn't matter how old he is. Also, 22 years old with £2 billion to his name isn't exactly a bad option.
To be clear - I am completely ok with the 10-15%. I said last night that I'd be happy for Donald to retain some if it meant the deal was done. I was just hoping that considering several ITKs said last night that Donald wanting his 10% had been sorted, meant he was gone for good. I'm delighted it's happening, I'm just underwhelmed by it. When you talk about uber professional bidders you don't then expect somebody who's never run a company to be that bidder. He may well be brilliant and I back him all the way. But I absoltely retain the right to be slightly underwhelmed by it versus the likes of FPP etc.
Am I crazy to be confused why people are disappointed with this? If it happens, we are ultimately in a much better situation. A richer majority shareholder, with the chance of fresh decision making at the top. Donald and Methven don’t have executive decision making ability anymore. And it’s just the first step (hopefully) where if we get promoted the new people may buy us out completely. I don’t understand the cynicism.
Absolute joke. Storey was right- just a re- shuffle. Donald, methven and sartori still all at club and we are praying some 22 year old kid wants to splash the cash. Could only happen to Sunderland. Mark my words Stewart donald will still be pulling all the strings .
So we are gonna have links to Monaco and Marseille, we have a rich kid with £2bn in the bank, sartori FIL keeping his Beadie eye on things, a sky sports presenter and mlf at the club a ceo who seems ok, possible links to Uruguay, I couldn’t care less if trotter and salmon pants are clinging onto a potential windfall down the line, just get rid of Howard Wilkinson II
Why? The son of the bloke who funded Marseille to the top of European football? Surely he's going to want to out do daddy. Much more interesting than a bunch of Americans who have no background in the game.
Maybe. Jesus Christ though people, it's ok to be slightly underwhelmed. I'm not in any means disappointed by it. Will be on the beers tonight for sure.
