A new manager is not going to make any difference. The issue is the squad has been cut to the bones. The only reason I would have Sunderland as a good chance to go up would be the home advantage from having a crowd level that most League One Cuba are not used to playing in front of. But that advantage has gone as well. To be honest, the squad looks a mid-table one for this league. Other than Maguire, is there a single player that you would think could still hold their own in the Championship? PP is not the problem here. In fact, he’s probably a decent choice at this level. No point bringing in Guardiola with this squad.
Wrong, a new manager would not have picked that starting line up based on pre season performances, who is asking for Guardiola? This bloke is a ****ing joke, and so are you if you think he is our best bet at this level
But it’s still slow and laboured. Teams just set up with 10 men behind the ball, hoping to pinch a goal from a breakaway or set piece, because they know we’re not good enough to break them down and Parkinson’s plan B is to throw the big lads on and just aimlessly launch it towards them. When this takeover is through I hope the 1st thing announced is this dinosaur is no longer in charge of us. He was the wrong appointment then, he’s the wrong appointment now. It’s painful, and embarrassing, to watch
I think out of are team maybe the defence that’s Willis, wright and maybe arby (Unknown yet) I think Hume has potential
I want him out end of. That is one of my concerns. Your right with your choices imo and thats why the current crop will put some effort in but not get promoted. They are OK in this league but will be gone if we go up. Would you like to lose the facilities they have at the mo? They are playing in the Wembley of the North and are quite happy to stay in this league.
He addresses this in a couple of his podcasts and although as fans we want to go in to every game with the strongest team possible and wanting to win. I guess managers have a different view. Just look at the way the big clubs have devalued the FACup in recent years cos they’d rather put their efforts into European competition. I’ve said it over the road aswell that although Gus wasn’t perfect by any stretch, he had a vision of what he wanted, his identified signings were realistic and would have improved us and the club just ****ed him off. We’d be in a better position than we are now if we’d supported someone with a long term plan and philosophy instead of lurching from new manager bounce to new manager bounce hoping to stumble on someone who could fix things. I’d welcome Gus back as long as he was allowed to build the footballing side the way he saw fit.
I’m not sure I’d fancy Gus back like. I’d have him over Parky but let’s not forget or airbrush the fact that we stayed up in spite of him, he threw in the towel after Spurs. If I had the choice it would be between the Cowleys or Clough, with Phillips in some capacity for the shot of good feeling it would bring. I know I’m like a broken record with it but if we’d had a Maddison yesterday we win the game.
I think to get some discipline into this squad and have a team totally organised think I would go for Pulis. Doesn't play sexy football, but defensively is a master tactician.... Doubt I will get a lot of support for this, but I think he would get us out of this league
Sbarcher Reserve Squad 36 minutes ago New Add bookmark #1,185 Don’t shoot the messenger, just repeating what I heard last night. Bob Murray is involved with a consortium to take over the club but SD still wants overall control. May be BS but discussions on-going with Neil Fox. ( from a member of the consortium).
