I obviously know nothing about that guy - but the fact that somebody as respected as Rafa Benitez, who pays a lot of attention to sports science, took him from Newcastle to Everton, is a blooming' great reference. Good appointment on that basis for me.
jamie is my nephew, he's a top lad, and I think he'll be a great addition to the staff team. He's been around the sports science part of football for years, and also been involved with Leeds Rhinos and teams in many other sports/countries. He became head of SS at NUFC after being there since big Sam brought him in as part of his huge SS team. He decided to move on after Rafa went the journey, and was on his way to Al Ain in AbuDhabi (where Gyan went from SAFC) when Rafa got the Everton job and asked him to join him there. So he's been around PL football for many years, as well as his consultancy and academic work for various universities. I txt him last week when he got the job (from 100+ applicants) and he was very impressed at the clubs ambitions for the future. Good luck to him he's a proper professional, and very highly regarded in the game.
Lovely post that. Hope he gets on well. Tough gig the sport science role at clubs now. Very holistic and you're constantly judged every step of the way. He will be far superior to the last lad who got didn't see the season out.
yep, the stats you generate become a real-time indicator of your own performance in the role! no pressure there then. But he'll be well up for it.
That's what it needs. Got some decent people to help him along the way, who are already in place. They need a new head of player care though, that position is open till tomorrow.
Aye that role is absolutely fundamental to what we're trying to achieve. Especially when we try and patch under 16s from other clubs
All sounds good long term stuff to me, even if I know bugger all about what these guys do! The days of the chuckle brothers appointing " someone they knew " to important jobs appear to be well in the rear view mirror.
Ridiculous how it was ran before. AOL was a ghost town and really was going down the pan. Very different now.
Oh yes, lovely chap I'm lead to believe. He's even included in my 1941 Panini sticker album, see below please log in to view this image
I know you don’t say what your job is there, cos it might identify who you are, but do you enjoy it a lot more since KLD took over or does it not really affect your line of work. I nar I’m nosey as fûck.
Full transparency, I do not work for SAFC in any capacity. However, due to my past and work I do, I have maintained a bucket load of close contacts at the club, so get to hear about how things are going etc.
John Kay has just been on the bbc saying everybody is going to drown, because it’s pissing down in the lakes
