Did you hear the one about the man who arrested himself for impersonating a policeman?

There kind of was. A certain Ms M Byrne was in total day to day control and pretty much everything went through her...

Mr Short, he bought the club and figured all he need to do was hire people to do the jobs...he tried and he lost a lot of cash, as i understand it there was a period where he basically left the day to day running of the club in the hands of others and those others saw some easy money and possibly the odd fiddle along the way, the half a million 'pay off' for a certain employee who had royally fecked up was shocking.

many still see Bain as the Severus Snape of the club and despise him for his cost cutting but in truth, that is why he was brought in and like it or lump it he did a good job of it, good for his own CV but terrible for the club. (i believe Mr Short had realised money was leaking out and was trying to plug the holes, not what we as fans wanted to hear but i honestly think he was left with little choice, albeit of his own doing)

SD and CM came along with plenty of patter to get the fans onside...nothing different to anything i have said since they came in, if they get the club promoted first season and sell for a bit profit i doubt anyone would complain, they saw a big club with plenty of higher level players still on the books and figured they really just had to grab a manager and get promoted, once that went wrong they were screwed and had to admit they did not have funds to keep the club going if promotion did come along, hence the asset stripping.

the above covers over 10 years of the clubs life and people still wonder why we (the fans) seem to turn on managers/owners at the drop of a hat...takers, chancers, asset strippers, cost cutters and lousy business choices almost had the club in administration or at least getting very close...let's just be happy we got that elusive promotion and by all accounts two people no one wants at the club (and dont want to be here) are likely to be out by the end of the week and we can look forward to a nice, steady, well controlled and managed climb back to the premier.

Exactly. He lost a fortune but it was all his own doing. The bloke was absolutely clueless about how to run a football club. It’s quite amazing how catastrophically bad we were by the end of his reign.

We are very very lucky we didn’t end up like Portsmouth or Derby.

Under Short the board, and structure, of the club was a shambles. Donald and Methven didn't feel they needed a structure in the short time they needed to bounce back up and sell the club @samwise_new couldn't be more right in his post.

KLD seems to have made his first priority correcting what was clearly wrong.

We now seem to be a tightly run club where information isn't leaked as much as you try. Whatever happens on the pitch at least we shouldn't have the embarrassing episodes we had with Margaret Byrne, etc.

It's exciting because it's boring imo.

Think we will all settle for a boring but well run structure.

The building blocks are in place and it seems with KLD we are starting to build up a professional structure from the kids, through the ladies and first team and into the board room.

Still need to sort the shop out though

To be fair to him, he knew that he didn't know how to run a football cub, which is why he delegated to other people. The real problems came when the ones who knew how to do it left, and the replacements began screwing things up but made the problems seem that they could be put right fairly easily. Once the chief of them had gone and Short found out what the real state of affairs was, that's when the cost cutting started and Short wanted out. Again to be fair to him, especially in the 2017/18 season, there were regular rumours that we were heading towards administration but he fought to keep us out of it. So even though I give him some blame for what happened, I don't blame him fully, as I think others deserve it more and I do feel some pity for him.

In junior school there was always one sad little kid who'd try to tag along but only become more annoying until the bigger boys told him to sod off ...

... how Bob puts up with the irritating snotty nosed scrote is anyone's guess.

Bless him. Just need Dennis Longhorn (who’s resurfaced) to come over now and that’ll be all the ITK.

It all seems like a very bad dream mate. I'm sure it has been posted, that we continued to spend a fortune on flowers for the reception area when finances were dire. Seems a small point, but quite large when you look at the overall picture of incompetence.

To me, the club under KLD's watch is like a breath of fresh air.

I'll be honest to admit that I was irate when the share percentage news was broken as it seemed, at the time, like more lies. I suppose that's why I'm really excited at the prospect of those two just leaving for good. I said at the time I wasn't going back until they were gone. I meant it. That's a shame as I enjoy going to the match with me Cuz. Couple of pints in The Victory before and its enjoyable. Here's hoping to doing that again.

Taking the clubs parachute payments, at a time the club needed those parachute payments to be able to be competitive, is the problem. Whether they pay them back or not.

RTG-esque post there. This thread has started to read like one over the road - people calling others out, people asking for proof of opinions. All we are missing is someone suggesting a poster is "rattled" before offering them out

:emoticon-0178-rock: That's where social media is really ****ing ****. I'm not having a go at Bob, btw. Think he is an absolute gentleman. But this bullshit sucks us in, and it brings out the worst. I'm guilty as the next, which is why my current mantra is take a step back. Engage politely only, and wish people all the best.
