"It's a fresh start for the club, it's been many years now that the club has had no real long-term vision and also cost-cutting at its forefront which led to asset stripping in almost all departments of the club, which require rebuilding from the start.” Direct quote from KLDs interview last year. Short pulled the plug in 2017 and sold the club to them in 2018. The real cost cutting started after Short pulled out of the deal to sell is to the German consortium in the summer of 2017, as we were losing £20 million a year. It's the selling of our better academy players cheaply, the likes of Mumbai, Hughill and Pye on their watch to raise cash, that's what people consider asset stripping.
Mistakes have been made for a while by multiple parties. I’m going to be controversial here but the hatred of SD and CM might be a little over the top. I think they did come in with the intentions of tightening up ship, getting promoted and handing the reigns over to someone better suited to the spending of the championship / premiership. I think short made the club payment arrangement because he thought these three were the best people for the club. Thats happened now and it’s water under the bridge, they seem to be on their way out so we all need to calm down a bit on that front. I do believe you about KLD backing out of paying for their shares though, will be interesting to see what his reasons are (second thoughts about full ownership/does he want to shaft SD and CM) we will probably never know.
I believed, from the start, that KLD would run rings around D&M but not Sartori. People were concerned about the share split, I wasn't. It's now clear that D&M are boxed into a corner looking for a way out. What they're selling isn't control of the club or a seat on the board so I'm sure it'll be part of the 'dynasty' I mentioned a while back. Unless the new people trust KLD, and agree with his aims, there'd be little point in buying the shares I'm very happy with what I've been told so far. That isn't the new owners, just that we're going for the top six and looking at PL loans and possible signings. A far cry from Ross and the likes of Scowen.
Maybe, but it's all a play on words. IMO the most obvious period of asset stripping was during the SD/CM/JS era, granted that it started earlier under Short but if you remember when SD came in there was still plenty of frivolous spending going on at the club. The main asset stripping period was when we were selling future star players for peanuts, you can't deny that?
I don't believe KLD needs the shares. He's the chairman and in control. Providing Sartori shares his aims he's untouchable and receiving funds from elsewhere. The board supports him and he's installed some serious brains who are trusted by the family. All good imo.
The moves at play here will be beyond my thinking. For all we know KLD has had this in mind since he first invested, lead CM and SD along until right at the last minute then a knight/knightess in shining armour will come along that is friendly to the LD dynasty to relieve them of their shares.
They iied, stripped the club to the bone, insulted us, made up more lies, If I am ever on holiday and bump into one of those 2 ****ers, well, I dont think they will like me at all
Selling young players isn't always a bad idea. It was the speed, the fees and the fact we were supposed to accept it as cost cutting that infuriated people.
I've said for a while now that Short did try. Funded signings but trusted dickheads to run the show. He was a businessman that bought into a vision. He did try but in the end enough was enough.
I was informed a while ago that they bloked a move from other clubs for one young player we had and who is still there now, The parties were Brighton And Crystal Palace. But they wouldn't let him go. I was given this information before it started to come out that they were selling off our youth players. Quote "There're getting shot of the youngsters left right and centre".
Since they are shareholders, I wouldn't expect anything else. It still doesn't take anything away from the fact that they used the club's own money to pay for the club!
No one could possibly accuse Short of asset stripping. He lost umpteen millions because of his bad management.
