We didn't know about KLD for months and months and months. It's clear the way these guys operate is all through proxies or lawyers etc. That's good. It's why nobody knows who.
Do you reckon it's a group or an individual? My gut says it'll be someone who hasn't been mentioned yet.
Exactly mate, that's how it works. The wealthy prospective buyer will use an autonomous firm of solicitors, from the country he's dealing with, to act for him. But they're taking instructions from his own in-house solicitors. So there's no direct link and that guarantees anonymity. However, nosy office staff tip off mates or even sell info to journalists. When I worked in the South of France I could sell the name of Janet Jackson's hotel in advance to the Paparazzi for 200€, if I gave the room number it was 350€. And if it was a minor star they'd ask me to tip off everyone I knew so they'd have a bigger crowd when they stepped out of the limo. I've no doubt some info, on this takeover, is being leaked to put pressure on Donald to f**k off
It's happened, says the @Wheatsheaf as of 48 hrs ago. Deal agreed but buyer unknown, however he described them as blue chip.
It's hardly surprising to hear that there are several 'names' being mentioned regarding buying a stake in SAFC, however you look at things we are on the up, promotion from League 1 virtually guaranteed renewed interest from many parties and new interest from others. Wembley was an excellent shop window for the club and showed our potential to some who may have not even been aware of us in the past. Lets just live with that, I really can't see KLD letting go, so any new investors would surely be on the basis of his control of the running of the club. If Due Diligence is underway, some party has almost certainly been given a period of exclusivity to carry this out. For my part, I will be most happy with KLD at the helm with other investors as necessary to push the club on, I'm absolutely not ITK but I think it extremely unlikely there will be any, shall we say, less than scrupulous party given even a look in. I'm happy to wait, still living with a smile on my face after Wembley!
I doubt Methven or Donald necessarily know who they're selling to either. All they'll speak to is a lawyer saying "my client..." They may demand to know who it is at which point they may find out. But I doubt they care who it is if the money is right.
If the client isn't named they can't demand to know. They can refuse to sell, on the basis that they're concerned about the future of the club ... ... as you say, they couldn't care less.
There is an old saying - No news is good news. That rings true here in my opinion. These sorts of deals, as others have said, will all be under NDA. Therefore official news wont be forthcoming until the ink is dry. We will have to be patient lads and lasses. Another old saying - Good things come to those who wait... All I hope, and I repeat myself now, is that KLD vets very carefully who comes on board. In KLD we have, in my opinion, a tremendous custodian of our club who is in it for the right reasons. An awful lot of owners these days are not in it for the right reasons. The prospect of having new investors is a good one, but I want it to be the right ones, with KLD still the captain of the ship.
How would that work though? Genuine question. Would KLD be allowed to know beforehand but not the sellers? You can't have total secrecy who you are until the deals done and then just rock up at the boardroom . Obviously they would have to pass the leagues fit and proper test (Which we all know is ****) and i agree they will sell to anyone as long as they get the price they want
It is beyond wierd mind. No-one will get good info all the time, most like me never get any! But prehab was bang on the last time. Maybe not this, but he and others are worth listening to IMO. So let's just listen. Maybe whatever it is that might happen won't happen. But it must point to a really needy type who rubbishes a bit of gossip, on a gossip forum.
I could see it as the seller doesn't need to know as they won't have anything to do with the business anymore, but i am guessing the current owners not selling would have to know. I'm guessing all the way here mind as it's not my field of work
Felt the need for all this change, that a name change was needed. I love you my Loch Ness Drogba (Hopefully he isn't sold this summer)
Yes KLD would need to know and the EFL. But I can sell shares without ever knowing who's bought them, in fact I've never known.
I'm much more relaxed about all this than before. Last time we were staring into oblivion, or at least league one stagnation which is almost the same thing, if we didn't get any proper investment. This time we're pretty clearly not. Things can still go wrong, but we are in as good a place as we possibly could be right now after the total mess of the last 6 years.
