Good clear post from Bob on RTG which all looks logical. "Yesterday KLD and SD went at 10.am ish to the EFL to duly sign and present proof of funds and the up to date program of funding, as requested. They were also on the panel of owners who had the process of removing the salary cap The deal had been accepted 6 weeks ago subject to this funding program. I understand/understood the announcement was to be after the match last night or today. i now understand its got to be announced by the EFL 1st i was not told this. is it happening tonight ? i fecking hope so."
It definitely doesn't need to be "announced" by the EFL. I think he probably means they have to give the go ahead to us to give the announcement. Which would make sense. All of it makes sense and would explain why he was here last night and aligns with SSN's reporting that the final checks are happening. Good news.
I think it's a much ignored rule tbh. Once the EFL have given the club the nod there's little they can do to stop it leaking out. I doubt they care too much either.
I think "as EFL complete their final checks". Is a very ambiguous sentence, and could be what you have read it as or that checks are complete.
agree - it definitely could. but when SSN are reporting it in more detail on their website as being "in the process of completing", that's what I read it as. But I completely agree its misleading
Must admit, I was thinking that Shrewsbury is relatively close to Preston (where the EFL offices are). Wasn't sure if they'd need to sign anything in person, but if so it makes sense to go there then take the game in. If he was going to London its just a short detour on the way.
I hadn't read that article so was reading it as completed then saw your post and was then confused as I saw it could be either. I doubt he would have been there last night without Donald if it wasn't 99.999% done, so just a matter of when. My checks on the news since the announcement have been more is it done yet as opposed to is it happening it was before.
yep completely agree. it's clearly imminent. just don't think people should be getting too much of their hopes up for tonight. But it definitely feels like by Friday at latest.
'I believe it will be sooner than Friday and that it's hoped the website, twitter feed and SSN will coincide. But there won't be a big press conference as had been planned for FPP.' This comes from the same person who gave me the Christmas Eve date. To be honest though, it was him who told me it would all be done yesterday. I suppose he could've just meant 'the business' whereas I believed it would incorporate the announcement ... ... as you said earlier it's often difficult to know the exact meaning of brief messages and easy to traduce them in the way you're hoping.
Don’t know how true it is but .......in the salary cap meeting, KLD apparently was a leading figure in it, had a team of lawyers ready to take it all the way if it didn’t get chucked out,
Yeh it sounds like it could literally be announced any moment between now and Friday. Was just trying to temper expectations as I can imagine we get to 10pm tonight and a meltdown starts.
Absolutely mate. End of the day it just comes down to when they want to announce it. Still think outside chance of tonight. Was expecting it before now. Not fussed like.
He was the fella who I mentioned to you when he said 'your shoulders can come down now' ... ... he loves being cryptic because he's not a supporter and loves winding me up.
It’ll be announced when they’re ready. We’ve waited this long, another few days is fine by me. Doubt much will change short-term but I’d like to see details of their plans for the future. I can be sure that the EFL check is completed though, thanks to a random contact who lives nr. Preston....not just my interpretation of what Sky has/hasn’t said in their website or on TV. Part of me wants it to stall tho. I’ll miss this thread. Most of you have been canny & informative.
