Good post and echos my feelings. I really would like to know what they mean by 'RAWA have made it quite clear'. Who have they made it clear to? It sounds a bit NUST to me tnh.
Thanks for the like , most sensible supporters want to give the new owners a chance , it’s the gobshites that get SAFC supporters a bad name which is an injustice.
There’s a large group of fans who take pleasure in acting like the “official opposition” to the ownership in a scrutinising way like in government. It definitely serves some purpose and I can understand why it’s useful. The issue will come when every single decision, quote etc is second guessed ad infinitum. Which will definitely happen even under the new regime, unfortunately. And in response to any questioning these people will respond with “well not questioning Donald didn’t get us anywhere did it?” as an excuse for their negativity. They’ll also say “we just want what is best for the club” - which I don’t doubt. The issue is some also just want their voice heard. my hope is that this quote from RAWA is merely understandably telling the fan base that they will continue to want open and honest dialogue and debate with the new ownership. Rather than constant questioning, hole poking and second guessing.
It's 'tinternet mate. The ability given to us all to construct a reasonable sentence has imbued in some of us an inclination to over estimate the influence of such efforts, many of which are of course made with the best of intentions. But it's mostly just harmless froth. About a dozen will come across these lines for instance, and maybe a few hundred across the lines in question. Most people just go to the match, follow from afar, think about going and don't and instead and follow on the radio or telly and so on. These places and similar are for the few of us who like to have a look and add a bit the odd time. The supporters sites are little different really.
I think so now mate as I’ve just worked out how to use in cognito on my phone as it’s different to my lap top
I get all of what you’ve said there and I agree with it all. I’m just as excited about the future of our club as anyone else, and on this occasion it really does feel different, but as fans we have heard all of the big grandiose statements before only to be let down badly, so I can kind of understand that some supporters would like to see some substance behind the words.
I can sort of get RAWA but we've made appointments in Speakman and Johnson that are a world away from Don's attempts. We've also had Speakman laying out the vision and have Kyril's statement on the club's website so there's plenty of info there about what the plans were. Think a welcome to Sunderland and hope it all goes well might have been a bit more appropiate.
I agree that there's no need for any demands, what KLD and co have said is plenty for me to be satisfied with. Words are cheap and it'll take time for actions to be judged so what's the point in badgering them. The good thing is that despite his age, going off his background and some of the things he's said I think the lad has a pretty thick skin and is aware that football fans can be a bit OTT. I don't think a supporters group making demands, if that's what is going to happen, will bother him in the slightest. He'll probably find us to be a delight I reckon. Once the good times are rolling it'll be happy days for us all.
He'll be determined to make it work. Reading his comments about football and it being a **** industry really surprised me as even though he knows this, he's still prepared to own us. Fair play to him for putting up the cash and being in it for the long haul. He'll get paitence from me as I realise you don't put together a structure like what's been said in a matter of weeks but fully expect him to implement the working practices he wants eventually.
He's no mug is he, he's going into it with his eyes wide open. His character sounds spot on for what you'd want from a club owner in an ideal world.
I think your last paragraph is exactly what it is tbh. It's trying to balance being welcoming without sounding too much like we're ready to jump into bed with him. I mean aye, some of the statement sounds a bit like they're being sceptical but let's not ignore the bits like: "The Red and White Army would like to welcome Kyril Louis-Dreyfus as the new majority shareholder of SAFC. As with any newcomer to Wearside he will be given the warmest of welcomes and great faith will be put on him to rebuild our Club. We will let him know that he will immediately have the full, vociferous support of a huge fan base that are beyond ready to have something they can all get behind. We will let him know that support will continue and grow if he attempts to meet the standards and ambitions befitting of a club of our stature and history. So we will enjoy the feeling of renewed hope and possibilities for our beloved club. Let's hope that this really is the dawn that follows the darkest hour.
when he gets to watch a Sunderland vs Newcastle derby that will be it ! i mean the French might have derbies but nothing like ours.
I don't like RAWA. I think they're nothing but trouble. I remember being really pissed off with that statement they released around Christmas time a couple of seasons back. The timing was ****e. They certainly don't speak for me.
