FPP Sunderland were a newly formed investment vehicle by three individuals who had no history of this as individuals, unless you know otherwise. They weren't buying an undervalued asset, in SAFC / Madrox, they have made a commercial loan. See my edited post that you replied to above, I'm happy enough having them as a safety net, hoping the situation never arises that it needs to be enacted.
Yeh - reading the transcript from LJ’s interview today, he specifically seems to “clear up” what “ownership group” means. It very much looks like he’s been advised to do that, which would corroborate the view that the club are concerned it may be perceived KLD is making decisions before he’s allowed to.
yes everything you’ve said is accurate. What I’m saying is it’s extremely unlikely that FPPs strategy would be to go into admin. Whilst FPP are new, the 3 guys aren’t. Their entire career has been spent buying assets low and increasing their value and then selling high. fwiw I’ve also spent many years in the M&A industry (only 15 mind ). Not that it’s at all relevant here because I’m purely commenting on what I believe to be their motivation for “investing” the way they have. It’s certainly not to write off the asset and walk away, even if they’re completely within their rights to do that. the whole thing is moot anyway as the chances of it getting to that point seem slim at best
A very good point, especially in light of what happened with Coleman. It's a shame people can't see the wood for the trees with things like this and just use things like this as another stick to beat SD with.
I think most of the evidence points to Donald using that type of talk to get us a bigger slice of the bailout money, obviously it causes panic when it goes public. Looking at it logically there's no way we'd restructure the whole club if the picture was THAT bleak, we'd have made the best of it with Parky. If the takeover/investment doesn't happen is the only worry imo, because that could leave us vulnerable.
Apparently the Portsmouth rep has put the same argument forward and I see very little mention of that. Arguably the two biggest clubs trying to flex their muscles.
Ok, without meaning to cause any offence, I'll put it into simpler context. Donald and Methven cut the club back to the bone - letting youth team players go for as much as they could get. Cut back other staff as much as they could, ran this club on a shoe string so they didn't have to spend money. Now why would they then sack Parkinson and his assistant when it's going to cost them? Yes Johnson said he spoke to Donald - what else is he supposed to say? At the time he was appointed, Donald is the majority shareholder of the club. Was he supposed to say that a 22 year old who's in they process of investing/buying the club appointed him?. Come on mate, yes we all want this whatever it is, over and done with and yes we'd all be happier with the 2 clowns gone completely but it looks like that's not going to happen. What we can take from this is, we're looking a damn sight better than we were 2 months ago behind the scenes! Isn't that better than nowt?
Good good and if that is the case, you'll know where I'm coming from as in always having to consider the downside, especially for us in this case as it is "our" footnall club at the mercy of "outsiders" so to speak. Agree it's very unlikely to be called into play.
I agree 100% No problem, no offence taken. My heart sank when I saw SD fingerprints all over things. I expected a takeover and PP sacked to happen within days of each other. If LJ was brought in earlier to get ahead of the game then brilliant. Is it better than SD gone with zero involvement as Nick Barnes was told 4 or 5 months ago? No, not at all and clearly the goalposts have been moved. I'm concerned that SD is pulling another fast one. If his involvement is all about stopping PP and his legal team from suing is for a few extra grand then great. I suppose time will tell.
It’s just him begging for more imho, the bloke would haggle over half a penny the absolute nappy sack
You have every right to be concerned and there is part of me that does wonder. But look at the facts since Donald has been involved - he wants everything done on the cheap. ****ing hell, he even got supporters to put new seats in for him! I really don't think Donald will be pulling any strings from now on
SD is a ****ing parasite like. The sooner his majority stake is diminished, the ****ing better it is for us. Cannot stand the lying little toe rag.
I hope your right Magnus but its a little bit Grassy Knoll/Dealey Plaza I hope your right mate. Until its confirmed on safc.com I won't believe he isn't behind everything.
Got no problem with that but just look at the last few years and look at now and ask yourself, would he really go out of his way to set the club up like this now?
I agree he absolutely agree, he wouldn't, he's spent months cost cutting. There's no doubt that there has been a change and money has/is to come in but what is unknown is whether he is still making the decisions.
I really don't think he is for some reason. I think when he quit as chairman all he was interested in was cashing in and left it all to Rodwell. He has to be seen to be having a say but this all must be coming from KLD and Sartori. I think Donald likes the spotlight too much, if it was him doing all this, he'll be the first one going to the papers and Sky shouting the odds. Hopefully we'll find out sooner rather than later
