On the theme of friendlies. Gateshead play in white so are we showing off our new away kit this weekend?
Exactly. Fake takeovers might be a thing, but only when they benefit the owner. Take Ashley, he probably loves it. Financially he makes more profit by doing minimal transfer activity (they've still spent a canny bit like) and coming 15th then he would if he spunked an extra £70m and came 9th. The fans want the latter, so a takeover is a great reason why deals didn't get done. That suits him. Not getting a decent side together doesn't suit Donald at all, not when we're about to start losing money which will start to cost him, either in terms of money he'll have to put in to keep it going, or in terms of a loss in the value of the club. The only way he can hope to keep a high valuation is if he gets us promoted. That will be a lot more important to him than fooling the fans at a time when no one is going to games and he's sat in Oxford already, and then on top of not going up and thus losing money the fans will turn even more if there's rumours that a takeover failed because of him again. Until someone gives me a good reason why he'd want to effectively harpoon this coming season, I'll assume if he tells Barnes there's exclusivity that there probably is
There’s clear ‘fear of losing out’ in his posts. We may mock the fella but he’s done a bit better than most of us and is clearly less of an idiot than folk are making out. He knows he’s about to miss a golden goose.
I dont get the fake a takeover to stop spending money on the squad. The more he underfunds and the team underperforms the lower the value of the club becomes and the more money he loses. He has a chance now to break about even and probably have something in the deal to make more if the club meets targets down the line.
It’s not to limit spending, it’s to give the impression he really wants to sell after publicly stating he was happy to leave, when In fact he wants to stay and hopefully achieve promotion and the club will be worth more. Obviously it’s a massive gamble as Covid has changed everything. If someone gives him £37m he’d be off... but last years issues with FPP and him turning the tables and moving goalposts shows that if he really wanted out he would have gone. Let’s see what happens and who’s in charge at the beginning of the season (end of exclusivity) He can’t make a deal as no ones going give him £37m ♂️
With no crowds and no money coming in Donald is financially ****ed if he doesn't bail out by selling to someone else that can afford to take the hit while this covid business continues. Problem is if Donald doesn't sell, then our club is ****ed along with him.
The Scunthorpe owner said the crisis has cost him 1.5 million so far. Donald can't sustain those kind of losses, no way.
No .... gave you not read my posts since Sun No one can/will meet the asking price and SD is to naive/pig headed/greedy to lower it
The thing is, even if he wants to gamble on going up this season, we're not really any better off in the championship. We'd get about £8m more in all likelihood, but given wage rises and the signings we'd need to make just to compete, we'd likely lose just as much there as wel . It would help him get his asking price with us only potentially one season from the top flight, but I think he knows he'll need to be out and not rely on a) getting us up and b) finding a willing buyer next summer. You've said some things about FPP and Donald which I know to be true mind, but I'm hoping your source is just a bit behind on the news!
