Can’t see them not announcing LJ today now it’s leaked. A couple of hours before kick off to get everyone in the mood would be great

very interesting point I hadn’t considered. Speakman seems VERY confident and assured that he is THE man. Can see why that may have put off Cowleys and Poyet but likewise with Poyet he may have said “no thanks”

Still buzzing off the changes. Personally I think the magic carpet is going to soar. Not even bothered if we only draw 1-1 today.

  6. Donald owned 74% of it and had control. If control passes from Donald to anyone else, it’s a takeover. Only if Donald retains 51% or more is it not a takeover.

The name 'mam' is derived from Scandinavian (Viking) influence on the English language in the North East.

Speakman is quite obviously setting the tone and has the authority to do so.

He couldn't have come any closer to flicking the v's at Donald and Methven ....

... but of course we must remember it's already been decided that they'll be running the club and pulling the strings <doh>

A takeover by a young billionaire with a football background, new staff/structure/manager, an important league game ...

... and here you all are arguing over what we should call our mothers which is absolutely pathetic tbh.

    It's MAM ffs!!!

This. Honestly sick of hearing this ‘SD and CM are pulling the strings’ patter now.

‘owa the road’ is absolutely rife with negativity this morning.

Let's worry about getting out of the Championship once we are there. Today is all about the start of a promotion charge - this squad is easily good enough to get out of this **** league. Sounds like cash transfers have been banned as part of the PL bail out, so we are pretty much stuck with the squad we have. It's up to LJ to get the best out of the likes of Grigg, McGeady, Gooch etc and get us winning games. Today would be a fine start

Logged out and staying logged out for a few weeks. That place has become unbearable. I get that we are all frustrated, we all want the best for our club, but the negativity is ridiculous. I think some people on there think we are still a PL club who should be attracting big names on and off the pitch. On the face of it, attracting a manager who finished top half of the Championship last season is a decent coup for a club sitting 7th in League One

Norwegian and Icelandic words are Mamma. There was a massive viking-era (they didn't call themselves vikings, viking was something you did) influence in Ireland which is probably why the same word is used there.

    100%

I don’t have a problem with people disagreeing with decisions and appointments etc, but it just seems like a lot of dummy spitting and feet stamping.

Just caught up on the thread this morning after a busy day yesterday.

I’ll give the Speakman interview a listen later but my sons have listened to it already and said he came across well. I think the Bellingham message will be worthy of note to the new regime and us fans.

It’s nice to see that there appears to be a logical plan being put in place for the first time since Quinn’s five year plan.

Obviously everyone had hoped that it would be a high profile manager and that isn’t Johnson to be fair. Seems as though neither Gus/Pearson/Cowley’s wanted to work in the new structure. If that’s the case then it was right not to appoint them.

Johnson is still only 39 so has time to improve and will have what looks to be a proper support structure being put in place around him. He is also prepared to work in that structure. He is committed to playing on the front foot with a pressing game which suits the fans, but will need time as we don’t currently have the players to play that way as we are slow and ponderous in midfield and are continually being undermined by goalkeeping errors and poor finishing from our strikers and midfielders.

Head of Recruitment will be a busy lad when he gets here but Johnson could also help himself in the immediate term by utilising some of the likes of Neil, Diamond, Embleton, Curry etc who can give us some pace and creativity if used correctly.

Seems like everything is coming together nicely, welcome to the new regime, give it everything you’ve got and once the fans are allowed back in then the vast majority will be right behind you.
