Well that escalated, been in meetings all afternoon, it seems I’ve missed him being appointed and missed him not being appointed
Not a great start from the new owners. All quiet embarrassing for them really Gonna be a massive underwhelmed from most the supporters this now
OK, you've made the point you came on for and I'll take note and leave it there before you totally derail the thread as I suspect you wish to. Have the last word and I'll talk to other people.
The main reason the news story from Sky, and therefore the leak from whoever leaked it, didn't say "Poyet doesn't want to work with a Sporting Director / Director of Football" - is because Sunderland don't currently have a Sporting Director / Director of Football.
You’ve been pretty rude to me for the past 24 hours when all of the stuff you list above has been going on. You’ve continually had a go at me for making unsubstantiated comments, yet you’re more than happy to give a free pass to others who have given you concrete info that has turned out to have been set on wobbly foundations. Things change and I’m sure the info they have was accurate to the point it was no longer. That happens. Pretty poor really.
to be fair mate, if it’s because he doesn’t want to work under a DoF, fair play to the new people for sticking to their plan and wanting a manager that fits their strategy.
I’m happy with Cowley. The article posted about him on here earlier today was a good read, think he could grow with Sunderland. Similarly, if Poyet does a U-turn I’ll be happy too.
I think everybody understandably got a bit carried away with Poyet. Let's not pretend he was the second coming of christ and the only option to us.
While I’m disappointed I will wait to see who does come in before making final judgment. The club needs a proper structure and if that is something Poyet didn’t agree with I’m glad to find that out now rather than in the middle of a transfer window arguing over signing/selling a player, which Poyet has done in the past.
It wouldnt surprise me at all if they all get back round the virtual negotiating table again. I'd be really surprised if any last minute gotchas appeared at a time when seemingly the contract was to be signed.
My problem is that I think everyone who comes into contact with this great club of ours should fall in love with it like we do. So when someone who’s experienced all that we’re about rejects us it’s gutting. Proper disappointed with Gus like.
I don't understand it either. In my opinion, it takes a far better manager/coach to get a team from the Essex Senior League to the Conference South, on little money, than it does to keep a well-supported club bouncing along the bottom of the Premier League. Those leagues are tough and only one, in some cases two, teams go up each season.
