I remember Cech's injury a few seasons back when he was playing for Chelsea against Reading. His Doctors advised him that it was so serious he should not return in a competetive match for over 3 months and as a precaution he has carried on wearing protective headgear.

It looked very bad this afternoon. I certainly wish Ryan all the best in his recovery. It is obviously his health that is more important at the moment and far too too soon to think about a return to the team.

Anyone have an update from the club. From reading a few incoming feeds it would appear that its a very serious injury, perhaps more serious than first anticipated.

The update from the club is that they can't confirm the reports.

Watched the game today and saw the incident not realising how bad it was.
Only found out the extent of his injury on a Ryan Mason thread on our board.
Gutted for the lad and his family.
    Get well soon Ryan :emoticon-0148-yes:

I think this is a lot more serious than initially thought.

Thoughts and prayers with Ryan who is currently in surgery.

Hope and pray for the best. It puts football into perspective.

The club will be unable to confirm reports in a circumstance like this sadly. It's standard that a club wouldn't at this time.

Still hoping that it's been overestimated in the Mirror report. It seemed very early for them to get that info in any detail

Fingers crossed it isn't that bad and it's just **** journalism

Many of the national newspapers are saying the same...The Press Association must be in touch with the hospital who are giving them the standard reply.

The mirror have obviously had word from somewhere for them to report the facts so black and white.

Let's hope the rest is journalistic freedom, a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain are always critical, but there's critical and then there's critical. Let's hope it's a bit more routine than the words would have you believe.

I saw the incident about an hour ago and the sound of the impact was just sickening.

Thoughts with his family and friends.
