    Yes indeed, a great window.

Wasn't convinced about De Laet, he may be ok eventually, but he wasn't ours anyway. Much happier with Bennett.

Howson too, a great deal. Happy all round.

Great news this is, one for the future and now. £3m reported fee

Is this the end for ward or Barny in the summer, certainly they will need to fight for their place

Of the bottom clubs, apart from our friends at loftus., only Bolton acquired a few players

    Darragh MaAnthony :

'Myself and the gaffer (Darren Ferguson) had very little choice in the matter after the player informed us last night and again today that he wanted to leave for a Premier League club and didn't want the club to stand in his way.

Norwich beat off competition for a number of other clubs for the services of the former Mariners defender according to Peterborough, who claim the fee is more than Brighton paid in the summer for Craig Mackail-Smith.

Two things, you DO stand in the way, if NCFC are involved, as proved with CMS.
Also can anyone remember how much CMS went to Brighton for?

I think CMS was 2.5 mil in the end, but I could be wrong!

Fantastic January all in all. I knew something was gonna happen last night after McNally's tweet. Can't wait to see both Howson and Benno no. 2 pull on the City shirt. Great signings!

Our future has never looked so bright!

    unfair cromer.

we weren't a premier league club at the time.
mackail smith was vital to their promotion hopes.
the deal was going smoothly until dion dublin leaked the news prematurely.

in my experience, we've only ever had good relations with the posh and its a good thing we do - we've had some cracking players off them!

CMS was sold for £2.5m <ok>

bennett was around £2.6m though the total transfer fee was £3.2m, with £600k going to grimsby town as part of an add-on from posh <ok>

As I mentioned on a thread last night I've seen this guy play a couple of times live as Posh are my 'second team' due to my in-laws being from there and I rate him very, very highly indeed in fact he was my favourite players from Posh so to say I am ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED with this signing is a huge understatement.

He has the potential to be an amazing player, and I didn't realise he was still only 21 so what an absolutely fanatstic bit of businss this is once again from our Messiah.

Truly inspirational, two fantastic signings in the window and nobody leaving, absolutely brilliant <ok>

This is the end for Barnett, without a shadow of a doubt, Ward is far better (Remember last season!)...so in effect with the departure of Drury and Lappin this summer, which is highly likely...

Defence for 12/13: Tierney, Ward, Whitbread, Ayala, R.Bennett, R.Martin, maybe Naughton permanently plus another left-back in summer window

Where's the other Holt come from? I'm sure he retired?

Odd people saying it is the end for one or two of our centre-backs when people were saying we needed another one not so long a go. Here is another one! We shouldn't get rid of any. Remember, we only had Barnett, De Laet and R Martin at one stage due to injury.

Like I said on the post about Wilbraham, unless Drury or Lappin ask to move to play more first team football I can't see them leaving as they are both massive characters who only enhance the dressing room.

I personally rate Barnett higher than Ward and was impressed with him at the start of ths season after having my doubts last year. Have to say it doesn't look great for either after yesterday's signing, battling it out with Russell for 4th choice CB.

Just thought that Drury might retire and that Lappin might want some 1st team action, but I am perfectly happy, so long as their wages aren't high, to keep them at Norwich, happy squad in the end of the day is essential.

Don't draw conclusions until ward has played 5 games at least at PL level, remember how Barnett took several games to iron out any mistakes and settle...
