i'm not sure the binner boys will be laughing if he does stay. i suspect they are slightly fearful of him ramming their drivel down their throats, hence the constant barrage of 'jokes' (if you can call them that).

he would be the best centre forward in the division, no question at all. i've seen many a footballer over the years who have struggled for form because of injury or failing to settle quickly and i can assure you that van wolfswinkel is an excellent centre forward. a decent, uninterrupted pre season and a couple of early goals and we'll have a european-quality striker playing in the championship.

personally i still expect him to leave, probably on loan, but anyone who wants him to leave should think very carefully about what we could be missing out on.

I had many a discussion on RvW's merits (or lack of) last season with fellow fans who declared him to be 'the biggest waste of money' and regularly defended him, primarily because the way we were set up did not benefit him. That being the case, on the rare occasions he did get a chance to score, he would either miss or be denied by some excellent goalkeeping - ie Fulham away.

I do not profess to be an excellent judge of whether or not a player will be any good, but as many of you on here (or the old '606) may remember, I always defended Ruddy when he first arrived.

    I rest my case ......................... <cheers>

PS - I REALLY hope he stays!!!

And his closest rival to the title of best centre forward could well be Hooper.

i suspect the ipswich fans mocking him know, deep down, that rvw staying would be a bit of a coup for the club. they are fearful and by joking about him they try to cover up that fear.

because if he does get some decent service next season, he will score a heck of a lot of goals at that level. his movement is top draw and he's proven in the past that he can be clinical in front of goal.

hooper likewise has the potential to smash 25+ next season.

If you pretend that last season never happened (obviously it did, but go with me) then it is outrageous to think that Ricky van Wolfswinkel could be playing for Norwich City this year. This is a player who has scored 45 goals in two seasons for Sporting Lisbon, helped them to the Europa League semi-finals, scoring vital goals against Manchester City, amongst others, and has, on multiple occasions, been in the Netherlands national squad.

Alongside him could be a player who has played in, and scored, in the Champions League on several occasions, was being considered for England duty just a year ago, and has more silverware around his neck (albeit Scottish) than most other second tier strikers combined.

Plus two other forwards who have scored a combined 41 goals in a season and a half (Grabban 22, Becchio 19) over the last two years at this level.

If the Ipswich fans aren't scared they're stupid.

Yep, they must be praying that Adams is as bad as our worst fears. That's their only real hope.

Fortunately, the club are at least giving him as much support as possible.

If he don't get the ball, he will score **** all!

I wouldn't worry, he will probably be out for 6 months with a stubbed toe or something.

If we keep hold of Ruddy, Ollson ,Tettey ,Redmond ,Fer, Wolfwinkel & Hooper we will have the spine of young internationals to be proud of, chuck in a few youth players and an experienced old head and we will be fine next season.
I was starting to get royally pissed off losing every away game and rarely scoring in the Premier league so i am kind of glad we can express ourselves and enjoy a fresh start ...

Struggling in the PL can grind you down. Instead of being underdogs in almost every game, City should be favourites most of the time this season. The target shifts as well though - instead of 40 points for survival, it's 90+ for automatic promotion, around 2 points per game. A good start is essential, and then build on the confidence that brings. Looking forward to it!

My point of view exactly - let's hope we can get at least 8 points on the board by the end of August, which as you say, would be a tremendous confidence boost!!! <cheers>
