Liked that interview with rvw Seems very Level headed Not sure we will go back for hopper but you never know What does this say for bechio?? Who's the next target? I quite like the kayal guy at Celtic. Or biglia
No - far from it KIO. Every year I go to visit family in Australia and manage to arrange missing only one home match by flying out on the Sat night of a home game, missing the next home match and flying back the Friday of the home match after that. This year Mrs 1950 has handed over most of the day to day running of her business to our youngest son and the plan is that we go to Australia this November for 3 months. Obviously this would mean missing a lot of home games and because of that I was not going to renew my season ticket. In view of this signing and the ambition in the Club this indicates I have now renewed. All I am suggesting is that one or two scribes are getting a bit carried away with the potential of a player that none of us has seen and I can still remember that euphoria accompanying the signing of Muzinic who was at the time Captain of his National side. To be fair I am one of those convinced that we paid for Muzinic but were sent his Dad but it is a cautionary tale. I also remember the anticipation when Bryan Gunn signed that big lump who had scored a wonder goal in Scotland but when he got here he couldn't hit a cows arse with a banjo.
Coming from the Portuguese Primeira Liga, he'd probably feel right at home, Mikey_boy. How lovely that after all these years, you still show so much concern for our welfare
And to think that only a few days I mentioned you on another thread and asked ' whatever happened to that twat ' Welcome back Mikey Boy.
It's a great coup but there's a nagging thought in my mind that it might be a bit of a robinho and he just not settle in England. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out though. Overall mega pleased though heading in the right direction it seems!
Always a bit of the unknown with any international move but there are few places easier for a Dutchman to get home and see family and friends than Norwich airport.
There's a good interview, done when he joined Sporting, where he talked about finding it easy to settle there, and moving around is part of the footballer's life. He talked. too, about his girlfriend (the daughter of Johannes Neeskens), and how she is well used to living in different parts of Europe, because of her dad's football career. All in all, I don't think you need to worry.
Being Dutch I think he'll find it easier to adapt to playing in England than someone like Robhino. Holland is closer to Norwich than Manchester is and with KLM flying into Norwich Airport daily Ricky can be "back home" within a couple of hours. No real history of Dutch players not settling so I think he'll be fine
plenty of dutch players have settled well in England in recent years norfolk is very similar to the Netherlands - all he needs to do is go to the broads, flat, plenty of dykes and marshes etc
Maybe he doesnt want clubs upping their prices knowing that we might potentially go for their prized winger?
