Thats the way i see it mate. Guess we are going to have to agree to disagree though i concede my theory is based on the following assumptions 1) rvp will not play with full heart and has just passed his prime 2) we will spend the cash we recieve However i believe my assumptions will come true
Let's wait and see though. Ultimately it's not in our hands. For the record I'll support Any player wearing the shirt. As every day goes by though it's more likely we will keep him.
I can see what CB is getting at, if manure buy RvP, then they will lack the funds to bring in a quality CM, something they need far more than a striker. However, i pray RvP doesn't go to United, it would be unbearable if they did win the league.
World class strikers don't come about easily I don't think it would help the team in any way to sell him. And to sell him to Utd, would just be shooting ourselves in the foot, twice.
he would make any team in the league stronger imo, i don't think we will buy him this transfer window though. As for not getting a centre mid in i don't think its in anyway related to whether we buy RVP or not its more about the right player being available for the right price.
This is an extraordinary statement. In my opinion, any team losing RVP would be weakened, and any team signing him would be strengthened. RVP & Rooney, both on form, would be off the chart. United may well look at signing him as a CAM, and that would make them pretty ****ing tasty in my eyes.
If it were Juventus or even (shudder) Barcelona I would be fine, provided we got at least £15 million for him (and if anything, that's a bargain). Utd are a different matter entirely. Leaving aside the particular animosity I feel for United and their followers, selling him to a domestic rival is unacceptable, especially given the way we've lost players to other EPL teams in the past. £15/20 million is a price worth paying to make a point, in my opinion. Of course, I appreciate that other people (and quite possibly the club if push comes to shove) will feel differently, but to lose him to Manchester United would be a very, very bitter pill to swallow.
I think it is questionable whether he is our best player or not. He scored a lot of goals and was the focus of our attack. Often the sole focus of our attack, but that was the way we were set up to play. Are Manchester United going to adopt a false #9? That could weaken them, if they don't have the players for it. If they try and play RvP as a traditional CF, then that could weaken them also. I think it is far from certain that RvP is automatically going to make any team better, just by being aded to the roster. I would advocate holding onto him too, but I still think there are going to be games where we will be stronger without him.
All we have is paper stories, RVP hasn't said anything about where he 'wants to go'. The papers are saying United, all Arsenal have said is that we don't want to sell him. To be honest a lot of the stories and quotes I've seen are disrespectful at best and amount to tapping up in many cases. He is under contract so this shouldn't even be allowed.
Thats some serious wishful thinking right there. The fact is he knocks goals in for fun. How could he weaken any team he plays for ? I admire your optimism but i think its somewhat forlorn.
im sorry but i fail to see how replacing ANY one of your players with the premier leagues highest goalscorer can make it weaker by one jot. Unless he goes in goal .
I hope you are right but to me that is just crazy.........Pod is good , Giroud is good, but Van Persie is a class up from them . Im sure we will get by ok but , Manu are hard enough to compete with as it is. Drop RVP into the squad and it just got tougher. Them WITH rvp on the sheet for 38 games... Us WITHOUT rvp on the sheet for 38 games.
A Striker force of RVP, Giroud & Podolski would be right up there as the very best in the league, probably a touch behind City who lets fave it have Aguero, Tevez, Balotelli, Dzeko. I'd say keep him unless someone offers the 20-25Million we are looking for.
