Yeah, that's to be expected mate. Worth remembering you can't help anyone else if you don't look after number one. And consuming 24 hour doom isn't good for you at all, so make sure you look after yourself. Take a break, get some exercise. Enjoy the football (isn't it refreshing to be able to say that to a Newcastle fan?!).
Even if you’re talking to Chippy, T.

Stop watching the news mate I reckon. We have a lass at work who is thinking about nothing else. Gets in from work, watches it all night. On her phone non stop through the day. She isn't sleeping. I said to her "Do you lose sleep every day about the Israeli murdering of innocent Palestinians and that illegal occupation? Do you worry about those killed in the wars in Ethiopia or Yemen? No you don't because you're not watching non stop news about it". The fear and/or constant occupation of ones brain comes from engaging on the subject hourly/daily etc. I think its massively unhealthy looking at how its affecting people. This comes hot on the heels of COVID fear campaign we've endured over the last 2 years. We have a habit of getting whipped into a frenzy by one subject due to coverage in the media or on social media. Its hard to avoid too.
<doh>

I watched skynews for a bit the first couple of mornings after it all kicked off whilst sitting with my morning cuppa and thought….hmmm, this is a bit **** and could get really bad very quickly. The reality of it is, as we all know now that th8ngs haven’t quite gone according to plan for Putin and he’s now in sort of panic mode and talking about going nuclear and **** to try and scare people into submission now. He’s on a ****ing hiding to nothing if you ask me and it would not surprise me one bit if he was “taken out” by someone from within, I certainly can’t see him being top dog when this is all over assuming he survives.

I flick the news on from time to just to see what the latest is but no more than that. I think most people are close enough to either a computer, phone etc for internet access or at the very least have heard something at some point that day either on the tv box or the wireless radio box to have a rough idea of what’s happening. That lass at your place sounds proper off her box if you ask me mate….lemme guess a bit further, single and has at least one cat as well?

I was thinking this morning about what happens to any foreign players playing in the Russian League. I think FIFA should allow any who wish to leave Russia to be allowed to leave and become free agents. No comebacks and no compensation once this is all over so that clubs are not worried about signing them and allowing them to play football.

i was watching Zenit St Petersburg against Real Betis in the Europa League - they had some good foreign players (mostly Brazilian). Maybe we should be looking at them.

No idea what they are like, but wouldn't want to be signing anyone while they are still there. Maybe as free agents. I was thinking more that they should be allowed to be earning a living, and as they aren't Russian should be given the chance to leave. I know their clubs will still be employing them but many can't be comfortable with the current situation - or with getting paid in Roubles!!

Nah she is married, usually pretty stable, nee pets. But she does suffer from anxiety. She got into the whole COVID death watch. Since then she hasn't really been right.

With the whole Russian debacle its very sad. But I must admit I can't say its massively affected me because I don't watch the news. I take an interest in current affairs etc, so I'm aware of this game the Americans and Russians have been playing for some time (about 1990..). But then like I say there are wars and wrongs being committed all over (many far worse than Ukraine) so I'm not really one for jumping on the current trend with these things. I think humans are pretty **** - certainly the ones that rule over us anyway.

I watched the Oliver Stone interviews with Putin a while back (I think they were recorded maybe 2015-2017?) and they were an interesting insight. You could tell then that what's happening now was going to happen if the US didn't pack it in. Vlad is just mad enough is the thing - far more intelligent than the likes of Biden and Boris though worryingly. I actually agree with some of what Russian people say about the US and NATO. However military action is just not on and I think the whole world should be well on the way to demilitarisation by now. Instead these ****s are spending more than ever! The US spunked $750 billion dollars last year on defence. That's more than the rest put together - which is pretty telling. Hopefully they all put on their big boys pants and sort it out because innocent folk are being killed. I just hope the same energy people have for this war, they have the same for others after. The Palestinians would be a good starting point as that situ is a disgrace.

I think you've got the right attitude mate. Don't delve too far into it all, or you get lost in all the bullshit that surrounds it. Have a ****, watch the footy, or something else far more constructive <laugh>
