Dunno, but all the South Americans seem to have massive numbers. Peru absolutely outnumbered France.

What's the population of Peru? Looks like they're all in Russia.

Huge Argentinian contingent too. It’s seems all the Europeans are scared. I expect a lot more English will go out there if we make the knock outs.

There are so many reasons:

1. Hand of God 1986
2. 1998
3. Osvaldo (He pretended to be Italian)

And I haven't even mentioned the Falkland Islands yet. Well, just did.

And why we should love Argentina!!

As a side note, it seems as if there are two nations that cannot forget the sad events of April-July 1982? I wish both nations would acknowledge the costly mistakes (Argentina in their recklessness, the UK in leaving the territorities unprotected). As for the future, as the UK is the guardian it should ensure that these islands remain a protected zone for wildlife, in other words big commercial companies should never be allowed in the área to exploit whatever riches lie under the sea.

The Argentina conflict was a strange time for my generation...born after WWII, so unfamiliar with war time laws. I worked in pharmaceuticals at the time and our key holder got a call in the early hours of the morning to get to the warehouse. An army vehicle was waiting with an emergency order and they proceeded to empty the warehouse of the drugs and supplies that the forces needed. And of course cruise ships were called up for service as troop carriers....crews were given the choice to leave or stay with the ships...and amazingly many decided to sail to the Falklands with their ships. I also remember how the music that indicated a news bulletin would fill me with dread as it often preceded bad news.

Yep I was aged 12 - nearly 13 when all this happened. WWII was just a history lesson to me and it followed on the back of the late 70s/early 80s threat of nuclear war (well to a 10 year old it seemed that way)

Weird times that the press and the government seemed to use. Without getting into the politics of the time, Thatcherism may never have come about if not for the Falklands.

and red wine.

Thatcher was admired before the Falklands...people (including many Union members) were fed up with the unelected power exerted by some Unions at the time. Mrs Thatcher tackled their anti-democratic attempt to run the country.
I agree - but 1982 she was 3 years in and popularity amongst voters wasn’t that promising. The Falklands changed that. For the record I am glad it did, she was a bit of a dictator towards the end, but IMO the best post war PM we’ve had.

Enough politics, another thread for that.

As FLT said, I dislike the Argies for their red wine. Malbec urrrgh!

Not really that up to speed with it this week due to work but if my iceland lot (sweepstake) win today are Argentina out?
