Panama have returned home to an open bus parade. I thought that was wonderful...it was an achievement for them to get to the WC, but would have been so easy for the fans to forget that and treat them like pariahs because they didn't mysteriously win the thing. Well done, Panama....see you again.
 
Argentina and Portugal going home should put things into perspective for some England fans....but won't I suspect. These things can happen....some fans act as if England are the only 'failures' at these tournaments. There is only one winner. I agree that you would hope that we would be more successful over the years and perhaps this is our year, but stuff happens.

Enough sensibleness....Come on, England.

This shows even if you have individual world class players, you won’t win. It’s a team game. England always have a chance if we play as an effective team playing to our strengths. As Uruguay have shown yesterday.

Yes you are right, although it sounds like you’re preparing for the former. I just love getting behind them for the games they have and hope for the best.

I'd love to see a bold, brash positive England sweep all before them and am also hoping for the best for the rest of the WC, doesn't mean I can't comment on previous tournaments though.

No one said you couldn’t SA :) Just having a chat about it!!

I’d take a stuttering route to winning it if that’s what was needed. 1990 was amazing and I’d just like to see us get to that stage again and even better in my lifetime.

Wales did the same after they got knocked out the euros to Portugal , I don’t get the point in it. In my mind it just highlights that you basically failed. Of course they were never going to win it and they did them selves proud and fair play to them .But a welcome home bus parade is just pure cringe.
 
Looking forward to this early game today, hopefully work is quiet so I can watch it.

Come on Russia!
 
What would be really great is, if Russia take the love they have received from this tournament, and become more aware at how important they are in the relations of the countries of the World. That does not mean join America in bullying everyone, but become a power that the others look up to and respect......not just fear. This could well be the most important WC ever staged. Or am I being just a tad romantic?
