That was a "wow" moment for me tonight personally.

It was a great free kick yes but he’s done that plenty of times before. If you actually break down Messi and Ronaldo stat by stat Messi is superior in almost every one. Don’t get me wrong Ronaldo is a freak of nature but Messi is just a freak on another level.

I’m still yet to see a single game of the Workd cup because of frickin work. Sounds like I missed a cracker this evening :undecided:

Personally, I think the whole Ronaldo/Messi debate is a bit boring but football and debates and comparisons go hand-in-hand.

When people ask me the Ronaldo/Messi question, I tend to say this.

I feel like being awesome at football has come more naturally to Messi. Messi is awesome, always has been, always will be. Has always played the game the same wonderful way.

Ronaldo has grafted and built his body from scratch, he's learn and trained, trained and learned and then at the end he has trained some more.

I really admire his work rate and desire to be the best and even when he's at the very top, he keeps pushing himself. He always backs himself and more often than not he comes up with the big moments in the big games on the biggest stages. It's incredible mental strength.

I agree dtlw and it's why I tend to mean towards Ronaldo as a personal favourite.

But really, I genuinely believe that without one we wouldn't have the other at these unbelievably high levels. I think over the years they've pushed and pushed each other to improve and it's been quite incredible to follow.

It's something that we're very lucky to witness and that won't be repeated again for a very long time imo.

It's almost like luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity :)
