Slade must pray for an early goal, or prepare for an avalanche of abuse. The SMT will be highly delighted to see someone else get the flak.
I didn't want another 3 month manager. But while I was happy to let Slade have a good run, he wasn't anywhere on my wish list either. The idea that he will undergo some sort of damascene conversion on the road to Gillingham is just not going to happen. Attacking the fans just sounds like a last ditch attempt to get into Meire's good books, but it'll go badly for him at Priestfield if we go behind. Incidentally, the Holmes substitution sounds okay from reports that he was on a yellow and close to a second one. The problem was the other two substitutions and the pitifull lack of optiobs on the bench. He can argue that one with Meire rather than blaming the fans. Overall, when the manager and the fans are at daggers, it's time to go. But the whole club is riven with disputes and divisions. Slade has just opened a new one.
As @ForestHillBilly says, if the Gills score first on Saturday it could get interesting. Dare I say it, but fans resentment against Slade is Fester-ing
I'm looking on the bright side. Although Roland said Charlton were only 1.5% of his time I take that as no more than a deliberate insult, designed to show his contempt for the fans. In reality he won't like another expensive managerial failure, which is what we're about to see. In addition he's having to pay the wages of Sarr, Watt, Ajose, Botaka, Texeira (who else?) and there must come a time soon when he'll want to stop throwing good money after bad. So I believe that piling abuse on the sensitive Slade will speed up his departure, and make Roland think seriously about selling.
The club knew that. He was all about stability, but he's failing in that sense, which is just pathetic.
Shrewsbury were snowed under with applications when they sacked Mellon... supposedly including Kenny Jacket, Dean Saunders and Dave Jones but now it seems they are after the Partick Thistle boss??? but then again their Chief Exec is Scotch. If you offer it they will come field of dreams
I'd take Paul Simon. He can serenade the fans with classic renditions such as "You can call me Al, Mrs Robinson and Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" Make for a better experience than what I'm currrently watching. Sweet Jesus! I've just had an epiphany. I've become detached and apathetic about the club. I don't care about them anymore.
Thomas Driesen would do for me. The protests would be nuclear, the olive caterpillar would reappear, it would be mind-blowing. We'd have Coco in goals, Nego at RB, Parsley up front, it would be goals goals goals all the way, with all of them in our net.
Dries end was trying his hand at humour last night by suggesting he was watching barca for scouting purposes.
Thomas has blocked not606 on Twitter I was going to make a suggestion to him Bill, Scotch is also a nation of people some of them being rather aggressive!
