Yes, tricky one though, isn’t it?

Would like to buy somewhere rather than shell out £2200 a month rent!! But all money tied up in old family home :(

If you and your ex are joint owners then you're only obliged to pay your half of the mortgage. If she's left with the other half she might soften her stance

Failing that you might have to be prepared to make some believable hollow threats. I can't carry on like this so I'm going to **** off to the Middle East and you won't get a bean, if you don't allow the house to go...kinda thing.

£2200 a month is dead money

Our mortgage is eff all mate, 350k on interest only so she covers that out of allowance. Maybe £700 a month or so.

She should really be making capital repayments but prefers private yoga lessons, nutritionists and personal trainers. You get the picture!!

Annoying that I have to start again, having spent 20 years working to almost pay off mortgage.

    But that’s life!

I know mate, it sucks, but it gets easier. I left my ex in a nice 4 bed, and I had a couple of rentals, but ended up kipping in my mates spare room on an air bed with no curtains. That was a head shaker tbh.

I gave her the money for the mortgage etc and then after about 9 months she rang me up,and said she was moving out. So I moved in........and had the bailiffs at the door within a week, as she'd not paid anyone a ****ing bean, including the bank. ****ing bitch <laugh>

£350k interest only mortgage and no capital payments being made?

You're on the financial highway to hell mate.

Tobes is right mate. Time for a change!

    Dead money everywhere.

Rent and paying for a mortgage that isn't being paid off.

Tell me about it. Especially when interest rates are so low too. :(

Hopefully rates won’t be too high by the time I get chance to buy again!

Tricky, with school runs and picking up nipper three days a week.

Difficult enough getting back home at 7 and doing homework etc as it is.

Maybe when she goes to secondary school. Takes me 40 mins to get her to school and then an hour into the office as it is!!

And I have zero equity/means to buy until my ex agrees to sell our house and we split proceeds.

So you have your child 3 days a week? Have you formally got shared custody?

If so you don't have to pay her a bean via the CSA

I know mate. I have 3, she has 4. But she pays au pair and interest on mortgage. She gets a good deal though: no doubt. And earns more money than me too!
