If Harry lets them turn up when they please, get out of shape and eat anything they want then i'm surprised he lasted as long as he did. The things you listed are things i'd expect any coach to enforce.
If the players don't like it then they should look for a club where they can take it easy. Good luck to them finding a top club that allows it i say.

Wenger did something similar with Adams, Keown et al at the beginning of his reign. They soon realised he was right and they were wrong and fell into line though.

sorry mate but thats bull! you honestly believe arry walking in all twitchy and saying "sorry daniel, i messed up but ill sort it out next year" would have worked? i believe this is all about going to that dof/coach role which i think the club admire and santini, ramos and jol all worked with a dof so that tells me this is the approach the club believe is the way to take us forward.

Would we have ever felt a real sense of stability under Redknapp? He's not the most loyal type is he

Again, when Everton have their first team available, the football they play under Moyes isn't "dour" by any definition - yet still retains defensive discipline, and knows how to take set pieces.

Good football, defensive strength, can profit from set pieces - Redknapp could only claim one of those three attributes.

Not really as do you not remember redknapp before he came to us? he was considered to be the best manager outside the top clubs and experience of the game, he had teams playing good football and done things the simple way, if anything it was a no brainer.

Also, you mention experience? what experience did ramos have? look at his cv, he left virtually every job after a year apart from the seville job.

Santini? ok he had experience of french football but no success abroad.

Both managers never spoke any English so why hire a non english speaking coach to take us forward, twice?

Moyes may well have strengths that arry doesn't but then we forget what we're asking the new manager to do, which is improve on what arry has achieved, plus play a brand of exciting football and I can't see how Moyes is the man to do this?

I could understand if moyes was hired if we had just had a crap manager who left us in a mess and we needed someone to come in and sort the team out and go back to basics, but ti take us forward from our current position, cant see it, but if he happens ill be hoping he proves me wrong.

Santini was an odd appointment, but for a different reason - Arnesen identified Jol as the manager he wanted to work with and Levy agreed...then got cold feet because he was thinking the fans would demand a Big Name Manager, so brought in Santini and kept Jol on in an ill-defined advisor role.

Redknapp had won nothing bar a solitary FA Cup, so really nothing to shout out about in comparison to the likes of Santini and Ramos who have won multiple trophies.

Ramos came on the back of leading Sevilla to their most successful time in their history, his record looked fantastic. Santini didn't have success abroad but neither had Wenger, Ferguson or Mourinho when they were taken on.

Santini made the effort to learn English and his record was impeccable. Ramos failed to make the effort admittedly but it's easy to say that with hindsight. Everyone seems to forget that we were in the bottom three when Jol was sacked with just 7 points from 10 games, so it's reasonable to think that a change was needed at the time.

We've still got players like Bale, Lennon, van der Vaart.... I don't see how Moyes coming in is suddenly going to make them boring footballers. We can still play exciting football whilst being beneficially disciplined as a team

I wasn't saying that about 'Arry at all. There's no doubt however that 'Arry placed keeping his key players happy as a priority, whereas managers like AVB and Ramos seem to be too strict and distant from their players and have not succeeded in winning the players over in England.

Continental names like them might excite the fans more but at the end of the day, it's the ones with experience of managing in England that give us our best chance of success.

Personally, although its sad to see Harry go, this is the first time in my memory that we are looking for a new manager when the club (football wise) is in a great standing. We have some quality players who with the right additions will once again challenge for a CL spot. Not getting CL football doesn't change the fact that we finished 4th in the PL.

It's always a huge risk employing any new manager at a football club. It's an art rather than a science in many ways.

I am just glad that we have a chairman who is not afraid to make such decisions and they are always made with the sole interest of Spurs at heart. Levy has proved himself over and over IMO despite or even because of his mistakes.

Moyes is both considered one one of the very best managers outside the top clubs, and has plenty of experience. Doesn't this count?

I see, so its more the "matey manager" that you think our players like rather than disliking the thought of training hard and eating right?

I don't see Moyes changing that if he comes in. His players absolutely love him from what i've heard. Had them hooked from the first training session.

His appointment was a disaster and we played the most negative brand of football seen at the lane for a while in his short time... and he made the effort to learn english? I would expect he would considering the amount of money he would have been paid.

You fail to understand how important it is to have a coach that understands the english game and can relate to the players and the league we play in, this is more important then hiring a "system" and then identity a coach that has achieved success abroad.

Also, why have you mentioned Wenger, Ferguson or Mourinho? in what relation? you may like to clarify that point.

Also, as for Jol, I knew he wasn't right to take us forward so I could understand why he was removed but Ramos was a mistake, and all chairmains make mistakes with managers but I hope by now Levy understands how important it is to have the right manager for this country and not an obsession with this dof/coach system.

He doesn't have experience of achieving the ambitions this board clearly have, now of course this doesn't mean a manager has to have that experience yet don't you feel its a big gamble to put a manager under big pressure to deliver champions league football and play an exciting game right from the start as any new manager will be expected to deliver what redknapp couldn't.

I could understand if it was mourinho as that would be the minimum he could achieve but not for the names that are being mentioned.

The DOF thing might have worked with Arnesen but Chelsea screwed that. the difficulty is you have to get two appointments right when it's hard enough to get one right.

If the ambitions of the club are to go on an win competitions and you want a manager that has experience of achieving that then the list of candidates is VERY small. Which of the former Chelsea managers would come to us? Maybe we could tempt Fergie and Wenger?
    Our only alternative is.............Benitez!

If he doesn't know english, he doesn't know English, he picked it up in his short stint at the club, much like Wenger. You must be the master of hindsight, because I bet you didn't see any of it happening when he was brought into our setup.

Again because Mourinho and Wenger understood the English game when they came over? Of course they didn't, they adapted and became successful. It's not unrealistic to believe other successful managers could also make this transition.

Mourinho, Ferguson and Wenger all came to big clubs in England with no experience of managing here, what other reason would I have brought it up?!

Yeah that was a shame that frank left as frank/jol was a unique relationship in that it seemed they were "freinds" and both joined at the same time to get success but that was just unfortunate.

Overall though, I don't see how it can work unless your chelsea or man city that spend huge amounts of money.

Aside from that, Man Utd and Arsenal both have managers that have the final say on all players that come and go while all the other clubs seem to have managers in control and maybe a chairman that likes to "suggest" a player but were does the DOF system work in this country? (im actually interested as I cant think of a case were it works).

Anyhow I may well be wrong and we may not go down the dof route and i hope we don't.
