One down 13 to go !! Personally I think we should get a vertain T Mooney back for the last ten game run in.
I'll start looking at the run-in again once we've played Derby. That is exactly the sort of game that we would traditionally trip ourselves up in. Win, and anything's possible in the last dozen games. Don't, and we're back to being fourth favourites for the automatic slot.
Realism rather than bravado seems to be the by word of the fans of all teams posting on here. I am so pleased by that. For my pennyworth I would be very surprised if Cardiff aren't champions. They will have to throw it away. As for the rest I wouldn't have a clue as to who will finish second. Obviously I hope it is us. What will be interesting will be the play-offs. In the past it seems that a team that just misses automatic promotion can't lift themselves for the play-offs, especially if they were in the top two for much of the season. For that reason I don't think Cardiff could win the play-offs if they do blow automatic promotion. Similarly if Hull stay second until the final game of the season I don't think that they will win the play-offs. If we don't get automatic promotion I would rather we don't get into second place at all. That way I think we will have a better chance in the play-offs, especially if we keep scoring. Whilst the games against Hull, Cardiff and Leicester seem the most important, in reality it is how all the chasing teams do against supposedly weaker teams. Peterborough have shown that they can beat the leaders. We only beat them with a last minute goal earlier in the season.
Far too early to making such statements, but - IMO if the status quo for all teams remains the same or similar until the end of March, Cardiff then have the hardest final seven fixtures. I can see them losing at least four of them & that may well be enough for them to throw it away. Mind you, they would laugh at that if they saw my position in the prediction league.
NZ, you make it sound as though Cardiff are 10+ points ahead of the pack, truth is they are only 5 points ahead of Hull with over quarter of the season still to go. Plenty of time for things to change IMO.
I realise that Cardiff are only 5 points ahead but for them to lose top spot they have to lose 3 more games than Hull do for the rest of the season, or four more games than us or Leicester. Given that they have only lost seven games all season this seems unlikely. Of course, they could go through a very bad patch but that would be a case of them destroying what they have achieved so far. I just don't think that that is very likely.
