Not sure if this has been done before but I propose we nominate Mark to carry the Olympic torch for his fantastic achievements over the pond. He has raised over £60k for his charity and that is sure to rise significantly with the more media coverage he has been getting.

For anyone who has not yet donated and wishes to do so, please visit http://www.rungeordierun.com/

To nominate a torchbearer visit http://www.samsung.com/uk/london2012/

Cheers <ok>

It's great to see such wonderful, anonymous' comments about wanting me to die soon coming from one of our friendly brethren from up the road. .. Why not be a real man for once and explain to me what it was that you found so offensive about my comments on this thread!

Did you know Brendan foster ran 100 miles a day in training !

Likelihood is that he would have run 100 miles then worked on something else for the following days - doubt he'd have run 100 miles every day he trained (Especially as long distance runners will run an average of maybe 6 or 7 minute miles for the great north run (the top runners) - if he did, say 7 minute miles that's 700 minutes (11 hours 40 minutes) - so he would have had to spend 12 hours a day on the treadmill at a high intesity to do this

The top runners run much faster than that mate. The record time is under one hour which equates to a mile about every four and a half minutes.
