i think sterling will be playing a fair bit for liverpool next season. he'll fit perfectly into rodgers tactics
Newcastle midfielder Danny Guthrie has played down reports of a lobster-throwing brawl at his wedding Full story: Metro From todays BBC Gossip if you're going to have a food fight, then a lobster is a pretty good weapon! Bread rolls are good as well.
We don't need ex QPR players to 'bail' us out of this imaginary predicament you have us in...we will just p1ss on you boys twice again next season.
Sorry, that will be me. It is great to see all these players come out of nowhere to do brilliantly at major tournemants but, for the most part, it never appears to work out when they get their big money move. The style of play these players prosper with with their national teams suits them and is often significantly different to that of the Premier League, La Liga and the Spanish league (I forget what it's called). These players are suddenly thrown into a higher level of football tat they need to adapt to. These players also come from national teams that are not known for for great achievements in international football. A perfect example of players performing extremely well in international tournaments is Ibarahimovic. Great goal scoring record internationally. But not so much in the top domestic leagues. (Sorry, I would expand on this further but I'm writing this on my iphone which is v fiddly (or diddly as my phone just suggested))!
I was just going to challenge you about Ibrahimovic wonky. His club and international records are surely very similar, and overall top class. I guess what you could say is that he has got better and better over time. I know he has a poor reputation in England, but that is because we (and our media) are very parochial and what is happening elsewhere barely registers -- until it comes and bites us.
one striker who i've rated for a while is swedish striker ola toivonen at psv eindhoven. would cost quite a bit, maybe £7m+ but reminds me of holt. great all-round centre forward - good in the air, good on the deck, left foot, right foot, headers... surprised he's not been linked more with english clubs. if we want to spend money on a decent forward i wouldn't look at rhodes at all, and now rodriguez has signed for saints, toivonen would be my man
DJ might be kept as backup, but I recon Barton would make a good partnership with Johnson in the middle for you? I recon we'd even have a whip round at Loftus and raise a few quid for you to take him off our hands! *whistle*
Don't get me wrong Wonky I completely agree don't buy a player on a tournament, Matias Jonsson is an example of that not working, nonetheless maybe worth a look at?
Absolute class... http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/blogs/world-of-sport/bride-punched-ex-newcastle-star-wedding-132152814.html If we sign DJ Campbell I will have a Falling Down style crisis.
I think we should definitely be linked with the following: Andy Johnson (Fulham) Lee Martin (Binners) Stephen Ward (Woollies) Tyrone Barnett (Posh) Glenn Johnson (Liverpool) Andy Drury (Binners) Any others ?
bloody hell, i don't want any of them!! none of those players would improve us. in fact, i think some of those players would weaken us considerably. funny how people see players differently...
