I don't think we will sack him while Donald remains chairman & owner. Two reasons: 1) He probably can't afford the severance package. Granted Ross is out of contract at the end of the season but I'd still imagine it's be six figures minimum and we spent the grand sum of f-all in the window and pinched on wages. 2) The new owners will get their own man in once it goes through. That would mean getting rid of Ross, appointing someone for either caretaker or very short term to just get someone else in again in a few weeks time.
This. I'm not crying in my beer, but increasingly unconvinced by Ross or that he can get this group of players to perform at a better level.
We’d hate to interfere with the magnificent work he’s doing at your place mate. The fluency in attack at the weekend was simply awe inspiring to watch.... Shelvey>Xavi
Joelinton is a hell of a player though. As in what the hell were they thinking when they paid 40 mil for him.
If it were a question of new owners wanting their own man , who’s advice will they be taking - I’m assuming that they have no knowledge / experience of english “soccer”. ? Would they let Donald choose anyway ?
Someone told me Newcastle had less possession than Watford at the weekend. That's not just the manager, surely the team isn't working hard enough or finding their passes.
From what I've been told, 3 weeks back, Allardyce has been advising them on the club from top to bottom. That includes the general culture, staff, coaches, scouts, etc as well as prospective managers.
To be honest in light of no other stand out candidates or obvious choices I'd have him back no issues if he wanted it.
What I posted earlier was confirmed by someone close to Methven. I haven't had this confirmed but was told Allardyce would consider the job based on being properly backed and not having to move up to the NE.
I had a long conversation with a good friend of JR this Saturday. (BTW I don't know JR and have never met him). He was quite guarded in what he said. Nonetheless, after 2 hours of me pumping him for info and 2 hours of him deflecting my questions he summarised this. "JR knows he has to deliver this season, however until now there has been no direct pressure on him to deliver short term goals, no mandate of we need to win 5 of the next six, or be in a certain position by Xmas. That JR was however a realist and accepts that he will at some point be judged on results." I asked him about Will Grigg, the new ownership, and about a thousand other questions, and his response to deflect my questions was invariably.."Want another pint?"
