I see Forest signed Zac Clough late last night. Another rival bringing in a class striker.

I don't get why you're so down about us not bringing in a new big name striker. It wasn't the priority. We needed a LB (perhaps 2) and a wing replacement for Brady and Canos. If anything I'd have a Klose-level CB next on my list to partner him before I'd worry about bringing in someone else to compete with Jerome and Oliveira. In Wildschut apparently we have further striker potential if needed too. (Plus Laffs and the striker back up roles of Murphy and Naismith etc etc).

Jerome and Oliveira seem to be decent Championship strikers. An upgrade on Jerome should be on the shopping list in the summer IF we somehow win the playoffs as he showed he's not the whole package in the PL. Right here and now in terms of promotion push from the Chumpionship, I think we're set with the strikers we have.

Yup, LB first, then CB, then Striker.

We have plenty of wingers and midfielders.

No new CB so AN feels that we are strong enough in this department? You must be 'aving a laugh! When are Bassong, Lafferty, Turner and Whittaker out of contract? Is the team
any stronger after the changes? Is it time to close the door on this thread?

I totally agree that defensively, we're still not strong enough, just because we've had 2 clean sheets recently and I'm pretty sure that they're all out of contract in the summer.
HMMM - I feel we are slightly stronger after the various transfers and hope we can push on and make it into the play-offs.
Let's just hope we don't suffer too many injuries/suspensions in the coming weeks, though I know we're about to lose Tettey for a couple of games.

We had 2 settled experienced Premier left backs we now have a brand new untested left back.
I would say we are weaker and Naismith has been doing OK on the left wing so the Wigan player won't be rushed in.

Wildschut has played as a striker 6 times this season for Wigan, so we have strengthened our striking options. Similarly Dijks can play at CB as well as at LB, so potentially we've strengthened there as well. I was hoping we'd sign another LB so that this could be an option, given that Bassong is our only left-sided CB. I wonder whether we might see a 3-4-2-1 more often with Dijks and Pinto playing at WB or Dijks as the 3rd CB and Wildschut dropping back to WB. That would allow Howson to get forward more while the WBs provide the width and crosses as well as extra pace in counter-attacks. Just an idea.

Formation change for AN? Terrible idea! You'll be suggesting a second striker next!!!! :emoticon-0142-happy

Bah!

Everytime I have seen Klose play he has been on the left side of defence, has he played RCB? Just curious as I don't know??

Morning Guys, ok here's my take on yesterday's events and the window in general.

We've sold Ollsson for £3M which is arguably a steal for Swansea despite his age. However he had made it clear a few months ago he wanted out despite signing a new contract which was only to ensure we got a fee for him IMO. A decent left back but not irreplaceable.

We've brought in Dijks from Ajax as his replacement who by all accounts is a more powerful and versatile player, have Ajax ever produced a really bad player?

We've sold Brady for nearly twice what we paid for him, a player who has wanted away for some time and to be honest hasn't been pulling up any trees for us this season.

We've brought in Wildschut who, despite not knowing too much about him, appears a more than adequate replacement from the footage I've seen and also is hungry and wants to be here.

We've sold Canos who, IMO was a strange signing as the few times he has featured has appeared lightweight and easily shrugged off the ball. We have players (Murphy's, Jarvis when fit), who are well ahead of him. Keeping him here would have done the player nor the club no favours.

We've loaned out Morris to Rotherham, who despite our recent result against them, can hardly be considered rivals to us in this league. Again he has others ahead of him, in fact AN even considers Lafferty to be so !

In conclusion, we've received circa £20M in transfer fees and outlayed approx £8-10M taking into account the loan fee and wages for Dijks and I feel have actually improved our starting eleven.

Oh and despite what we've all said about our current CEO, unlike the previous incumbent he has managed to get deals done on deadline day.

We used a 3-4-2-1 against Brentford away and Southampton at home, so it is possible, and particularly suits our counter-attacking style away from home.

Unfortunately though Rick, he ´s got the reputation of hitting the target as regularly and as successfully as Jerome, so don´t get too excited yet.

His scoring rate suffered when Wigan played him in CM early in the season because of their small squad. Since he's moved up to WL and striker again, he's scored 5 goals in his last 9 games for a struggling Wigan side. We'll have to see how he settles in, but I think he'll suit our playing style and give us more bite as well as more goals than Brady did (Brady had 4 goals in 26 matches this year).
