See, this is going to cause confusion galore, especially for those who
don't get to games and rely on radio commentary!
Previously, 'Wildschut' was the exclusive domain of an Alex Tettey goal attempt,
blazed high over the bar and into row Z - now it'll have two meanings!<yikes>[/QUOTEi
I get your drift, and agree with you, but the name is pronounced with a V at the beginning.

Morning Guys, ok here's my take on yesterday's events and the window in general.

We've sold Ollsson for £3M which is arguably a steal for Swansea despite his age. However he had made it clear a few months ago he wanted out despite signing a new contract which was only to ensure we got a fee for him IMO. A decent left back but not irreplaceable. We've brought in Dijks from Ajax as his replacement who by all accounts is a more powerful and versatile player, have Ajax ever produced a really bad player? We've sold Brady for nearly twice what we paid for him, a player who has wanted away for some time and to be honest hasn't been pulling up any trees for us this season. We've brought in Wildschut who, despite not knowing too much about him, appears a more than adequate replacement from the footage I've seen and also is hungry and wants to be here. We've sold Canos who, IMO was a strange signing as the few times he has featured has appeared lightweight and easily shrugged off the ball. We have players (Murphy's, Jarvis when fit), who are well ahead of him. Keeping him here would have done the player nor the club no favours. We've loaned out Morris to Rotherham, who despite our recent result against them, can hardly be considered rivals to us in this league. Again he has others ahead of him, in fact AN even considers Lafferty to be so ! In conclusion, we've received circa £20M in transfer fees and outlayed approx £8-10M taking into account the loan fee and wages for Dijks and I feel have actually improved our starting eleven. Oh and despite what we've all said about our current CEO, unlike the previous incumbent he has managed to get deals done on deadline day.

Agree with all of this KIO, except that we got more than £3m for Olsson (most sources say £4m+add-ons). Also 25% of Brady's fee goes to Hull, but even so, we generated enough income to balance the projected £9m loss for this year, and savings on wages will help as well. Brady is a good player, but we have a lot of options at WL, though we have lost cover at LB. Similarly, Olsson is a decent LB but he had his problems cutting out crosses and marking opposing players because of his height. At 6'4" and 17 stone, Dijks will have big advantages in the rough and tumble of the Championship while still being able to bomb forward with pace and get crosses in, as can Wildschut. Unlike Brady, he can also play WR and as a striker which helps to balance the squad as a whole. Like Dijks, Wildschut seems to have a strength and hunger well suited to the Championship. Time will tell of course, but it makes me more optimistic. I was hopeful about Canos as well, though, and that just didn't work out, mainly because Jacob and Josh did.

It's OK KIO, I've managed to get you an appointment at Hellesdon Hospital - 9.30am tomorrow!!!! <laugh>
PS - great post though and if you consider that not only did we hold on to the Murphy twins, we've succeeded in getting them both on lengthy contracts, then I would say that it's been a quite a decent Transfer Window.

Good point, JMF, and you could include Godfrey breaking into the first team as well. Hopefully Maddison will get some chances as well.

An injury to Klose Howson or Aloevera could pretty much end our season so this untried Dutch left back better be good and stay uninjured too ,because we have no credible plan B.

Any idea why we didn't release Michael Turner during the window ? He'd probably fit into the Plan D category and I would have thought, as an act of kindness, we'd cancel his contract and let him play football somewhere else....

I bet he is on a really good wage. I bet he's on about 15-20,000 a week.
