Don't we always, until now, have diminutive left backs? Olsson, Drury, Bowen. It will seem strange having an athletic giant in that position. Someone posted a few hours ago that Dijks, because of his size, would be slow and cumbersome. Anyone remember the late Jonah Lomu of Rugby fame? Dijks is not quite as big and fearsome, but he certainly has pace and energy.
