You seem to have a mental blockage Jager, it would have been very easy for the club to have given PRIORITY to the real supporters because they would have been able to have produced ticket stubs of the games they had been to, while those that had never set foot in the Liberty, would have produced didley squat, and would go at the back of the queue, they could have then had the last of the tickets, there was never going to be any doubt regarding empty seats, though there might well be for different reasons this season!................ please log in to view this image By the way the club have used this PRIORITY system a number of times this season, asking REAL fans to keep hold of they're ticket stubs, to produce for later fixture, what the hell has transfer fees your on about got anything to do with this! Jager - I am not calling genuine fans of Swansea City plastics. Nor am I pissed off that I didn't get a season ticket, not anymore anyway. I am pissed off because people keep calling the fans that didn't get a ST "not real fans". I am also pissed off at the fact so many thousands have bought tickets when they are only there to see the glamour sides. How many will be there on a cold, wet december night when we play west brom or norwich? How many will make the effort to go to away games? How many will spend money in the club shop? How many will be wearing a recent Swans shirt? It's not all about just selling the ST's. It's about getting the right customer. I would rather sell a car to a customer who is guaranteed to buy a few extra's and get it serviced once a year. Therefore, I increase my turnover. The same goes for football. Just sell a ST, or sell to the right person, the person that is most likely to spend a bit of cash in the club shop. I kno for a fact 42 Irish people, living in Ireland, have bought ST's. They don't support the Swans. They don't care about the Swans. It's conveniant. They can get the ferry over, get down the liberty and watch some big sides. It really is as simple as that. I expect alot of the new ST holders are man Utd/Chelsea fans etc. Need to look at the bigger picture on this one. Look after people the way you would like to be looked after. That being said, I hope I'm wrong and 16,000 ST's hlders do turn up for the cold december games, but I very much doubt it. I'll put £100 on 10K turning up.
Phil - You just hit the nail on the head. They have a record of all fans that have bought tickets in the past, that would soon show who the real fans are. There was never any doubt that all ST's would be sold, so they could have sold them in a priority order.
I agree that we have been inundated with glory hunters jumping on the Premier League bandwagon, but don't lose sight of the fact that many 'genuine' fans weren't ST holders last season. A friend of mine who could only attend 10 matches last year due to work commitments and the cost of taking his 2 kids has bought 3 STs for this season because it's the only way he could ensure seeing any games at all.He also camped out at the Liberty from 8pm on the Thursday and finally got his tickets at 1pm Friday, even though he couldn't really afford it. A genuine fan indeed. I'm sure he's not the only convert to a ST so yes there are plastics, but also genuine fans have boosted sales and demand.
Yes I know Ash, not to worry though, we know what to do next season, though if we do come down there will be plenty of seats again!.................. please log in to view this image Jackante Buono agree with your post completly................ please log in to view this image
Phil, So the club is supposed to be able to tell the future now, how the hell can they know to tell people to keep stubs to show they are true fans, because they are now in the premier league! Didn't people find it difficult to comprehend that tickets were selling fast, just two articles put up on the official website , there are others! NEW season ticket boost for Swans Posted on: Fri 08 Apr 2011 http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~2334164,00.html 300 new season tickets at £300 each Posted on: Tue 03 May 2011 http://www.swanseacity.net/page/Latest/0,,10354~2349010,00.html
Well Jager, as nice a fella you are! I have to say, that in your case, you can take the horse to the trough, but you can't make him drink! I am just trying to put the other side on here as well phil, people are quick enough to blame the club when its stadco or whatever the hell they called now selling the tickets, they are on their arse as well, what I am saying mate and have done all along is that a lot of people who were paying on the day, have now plumped for a season ticket instead, so the true fans have already got tickets. And no matter which way you look at it the stadium is not fit for purpose, something I said way back in 2008, but judging by some of the comments there I think Lone has some explaining to do lol http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A32783844
Well we know that, shame we waited until crunch time though! Never mind it will all come out in a wash! I'm off up, think I'll give the QPR board a broadside tomorrow, they like us Welsh!............. please log in to view this image Off up the wooden hill, it is then!............... please log in to view this image
Hi Dragon, and all other Swans. Norwich fan here. Looking forward to the fixtures? I sure am. Give it your best shot, glad you were promoted. It'll be tough, but enjoy the ride, I know we will.
I agree that if season ticket holders don't bother to turn up then they should have their season tickets cancelled. The only exception is if they tell the club in advance and let the club re-sell that seat. This is super easy in this day and age. Just set up a secure site and let season ticket holders log on and say if they can't make a match.
Why are some of you so against getting more fans? More fans mean more revenue for the club. Not everyone who like football wants to watch league football. That doesn't make them plastic. Just because some people like football more than others doesn't make them more real. Some people have other interests that are more important to them, so football is secondary. For them, the interest gets stronger when a team is in the Premier League. It's got nothing to do with being plastic. It seems some on here think they are better than others. Well I have news for you. Just because you watch the Swans on a cold, wet evening in December in League Two doesn't make you more of a fan. So get off your high horses and be grateful that the club is attracting more fans. Existing season ticket holders had first priority for tickets and others had plenty of time, so apart from a few exceptions, everyone of the so-called 'real' fans has had plenty of time to get a ticket. You could make this excuse for almost anything in life? Where do you go on holidays? If it's to a popular destination, then you are plastic because you didn't go there before it was popular. Do you ever go to see popular bands play? Well you are plastic if you didn't see them when they weren't popular. I could give 100s of such example. Fans are fans. Some are more committed than others, but that doesn't make them unreal. Some Swans season ticket holders support Man U. So are they real fans? We have more fans. Get over it.
So, If I was to make the 120 mile round trip to watch the Swans take on Bury (For example) in a cup game on a cold, wet, soon to be icy December night, I would be no more of a fan than someone that lives 10 minutes from the stadium and couldn't be arsed to go out in the cold? Sorry Bangkok, but that's utter crap mate. Guys, and girls that follow their team, band, whatever, through thick and thin, cold and warm and the better fans. The better fans enjoy watching their team play whoever. Wether it Accrington Stanley, or Burton, or Crawley. They will be there no matter what. Not turning up because the likes of Man Utd are coming to town. I believe that's called glory hunting. Like the many thousands of Man Utd f"fans" who have never stepped foot in Old Trafford. Not against the club getting more revenue, but as stated earlier, the ST's would have sold out regardless. So, had they checked on their computer database, you type in fans name and it shows a list of games they attended that year. Do this for the sale of ST's. Existing ST's holders get priority. Then guys that attended 15-20 games 10-15 games 5-10 games. Under 5 games go last. It really was as simple as that!
JackAsh - point taken. I'd didn't explain very well, so I'll have another go. Your priority ticket idea is a good one, except for the fact that people who has season tickets from last year were given priority. But let me try to explain the real v plastic a bit better. For a start, what's your definition of a real fan? For example, I remember seeing the Swans play Northampton (first game I went to) and the crowd was about 1,200. So if we go by that, then there are only around 1,000 real Swans fans. All the others came along when they got promoted to League Two, League One, Championship. That is entirely reasonable. What isn't reasonable is that there are probably 10,000 or so who think they are real fans but only started coming to matches in recent years. You may argue that some are too young to have been to the earlier matches, but if Swans were now in the Conference, how many real fans would be going to see them week in and week out. Yes, there would be a hardcore of maybe 500-1000, but that's about it. So if anyone is real, then they are. Also, what about people who don't go to many matches because they're too far away, don't have enough money, etc. They are still real to me. Some fans are making this into an us (real) and them (plastic) situation. It's as if it is all black and white (no pun intended). Previous season ticket holders had plenty of time to buy season tickets for the coming season. If they are such real fans, then why didn't they buy them. There will always be a few exceptions, so no need to mention them. The fact is that if the Swams were in the Conference in a few year time, then 90% of the so-called real fans would be nowhere to be seen. This is all about some people thinking they are better than others. I for one am glad that new fans are being found. Of course crowds will drop if they get relegated. That's got nothing to do with being real or not. This real v plastic is just bullshit. This is a great time for the Swans and we should be celebrating together, not trying to divide the support into a them and us. We went on a cold, wet night, so we are better than you. Complete crap.
I sympathise with you for not being able to get a season ticket, due to your circumstances, but I don't see what else the club could have done. They have to draw the line somewhere. I think the gave exiting season ticket holders enough time to buy. Some cases like yours may be sad, but what else can the club do. At some point they have to release them for sale. Anyway, who started this rumour about the councillor? Are there any rules against buying 50 season tickets? Did he get special treatment? Maybe he bought them for a group of fans, as it would mean one person queueing instead of 50? Is this even true? Who is the councillor? Has anyone asked him for a comment? So many unanswered questions. If he'd only bought 1, then the other 49 would have been sold a few minutes later, so can't see what difference it makes.
I too Empathise with Jackash as its more his bosses fault he didnt get a ticket and no offence mate by the sound of things it sounds like if we were still in the championship then your boss wouldnt be giving you the saturdays off. So if we were still in the championship and still have to work saturday then i guess in your eyes you wouldn't be the fan that your making out that you are now!? and had you managed to get a season ticket this year and not had one previously would that then have made you a "plastic" as people are calling it as you stated you have not been a ST holder previously? My point is that the people who call themselves die hard fans should have got their tickets when they were readily available. I.E before Wembley. I just cant understand how people thought it would be any different if we got to the Prem. We have more fans and i can only see this as a good thing. Deal with it. nb. I can understand how frustrating it must be not being able to get an ST but please dont make out that other people are any less deserving as yourselves.
Why is it that a 2 litre bottle of coke costs 27 pence, but a 1 litre bottle costs 37 pence? A 1-litre bottle is really 5p, but they pretend it's 37p so that you buy the 2-litre bottle instead. Tesco and others do this a lot. I've seen tomatoes at £1 a pack one week and then next week they are £1.50 per pack or 2 for £2. So you end up having to buy two packs, but at the same price as two packs cost the previous week. It's one big con to make you buy more than you need.
You are probably right, and if you are it is certainly good news for any 'real' fans that missed out a season ticket. They may find it difficult to get a match day ticket for Man U or Chelsea, but on a cold and wet winter's day or night, they should be able to get a ticket for the Wolves match. As they are such 'real' fans then seeing their team play Wolves is just as good as seeing them play Man U. So, problem solved. The 'real' fans can still get to see quite a few matches - Wolves, Norwich, QPR, etc. You 'real' fans should be rejoicing at your good fortune. LOL.
