I would love to dig that out and then add the total of the wage bill which was humongous, that's why our club has empty pockets, poor recruitment, selling key players, sky high wages and poor, sub standard replacements over paid, 5 years for 5 places up , there is more to running a club than lucky streaks, worrying about the length of grass, flying drones, big screens and lies about European football in 3 years.( That is more than NP promised in 3 years ) There we go normality resumed for the little failure.
Supcon, you've been on the whiskey again. It's 65 in 4 years. Has any club has had that transfer activity let alone BCFC ? Take out the sell on clauses of 20 to 25% that both PNE and Ipswich included in the transfers of Brownhill and Webster and City were in profit to the tune of £20million. They are the only 2 that City made a profit on Junior and Ashton's 65 signings.
Net spend was near even. A toss can be argued either side over who signed who to create what. A reason players had to be sold was the wages of the squad. And players had to be sold to cover a wage bill that went up over one hundred per cent. The cost cutting the FC is experiencing is not just because of covid, its because of the former incumbent/incumbents spending on wages.
Tell you what RR, I do hope that he turns our fortunes around and becomes as successful as your enthusiasm you have for his abilities, because as all of us as City fans, that is what we all want.. but he needs to get a decent start to the season, if our past few seasons is anything to go by.. we start well, then tails off and even NP struggled to turn it around last season.. Had it not been for our first quarter of games, putting us up there, or there abouts, I believe we would now, be playing in league 1
I think it's only fair to remind everyone that, outside the crazy fantasy bubble that is the Premiership, the football world is reeling from the financial implications of Covid and all players' stock will be down. A football club that could demand a price of £10m for a player before Covid would struggle to get £5m for the same player. Add into the mix that a player already in his late 20s or 30s is 2 years older, with less playing time left, it's natural that his price will have dropped. This has nothing to do with LJ or NP - it's simple economics. Skint clubs will be desperate to rid themselves of high wage earners - who tend to be their better players - so the market will be deflated and flooded with players looking for work. It's a great buyers market for rich clubs, but terrible for those clubs desperate to minimise their losses by selling. Luckily we don't fall into the 'desperate' category.
Again it is 4 seasons not 5 years, the number is actually 52 on contracts + 15 loaners = 67 in total. 36 we paid fees for and 16 were free. Of the 36 we paid fees for we have made profit on 2 of them and may have broke even 'possibly' on 3, 15 are still with us and are part of a struggling team over the past 2 seasons and none of them would recoup anywhere near the fees that we paid for them. What part of that is normal? or not dysfunctional? I suggest to you there will up 10 names out the list of players not on loan that you will never have heard of or totally forgotten about, it was certainly the case for me. It was a scatter gun approach and one that I suspect is not normal for any club. How many of those did LJ actually want/ask for? The net spend far exceeds the net income from all income + sales, that is why 3 times over past 4 seasons SL has had to swallow the debts, I accept the recent impact of covid.
I understand what Covid has done to transfer values. Forget the costs R&W. The point is that only 4 of the 65 started last weekend. A terrible indictment.
Blimey RP that's scraping the barrel even by your standards......How many players starting for Man C this Saturday from two years ago and since 2016.. and we've had 3 managers!!
Bentley kept us up come the end with his displays-we were being battered in games yet we gained points which kept us up.
2 managers. One who have been able to BUY 1 player (whom hasn't managed a handful of games in over a year) + 2 free transfers (one of whom left after only 3 months). The second manager has been able to BUT 1 player + 3 free transfers. Your'e the one scraping the barrel. Man City/BCFC? really?
Didn't think it would be long before you put your oar in! LJ, Holden and now Pearson since 2016.......Call me stupid but I believe that is 3 and if you're nit picking between coaches & managers...fill ya boots if it makes you happy!! Man City/BCFC..............yep The rest of your waffle is just that.......waffle
You said I could call you stupid, I will leave that up to you. 2 managers because I have already referenced all of LJ's/Ashtons/LJ and Ashtons dealings in another post and the post you are replying to here is the dealings that Holden and Pearson have made to show the gulf in spend and amount of signings. Not waffle yet again facts.
The conversation had nothing to do with what you wrote, I was answering RP's comment. Just for you, RP: I understand what Covid has done to transfer values. Forget the costs R&W. The point is that only 4 of the 65 started last weekend. A terrible indictment. Me: Blimey RP that's scraping the barrel even by your standards......How many players starting for Man C this Saturday from two years ago and since 2016.. and we've had 3 managers!! LJ, Holden and now Pearson,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,3 It didn't involve you, it didn't mention you....but wouldn't expect anything less, but for you to resist waffling in. You and your double act continue to waffle on like a couple of old codgers about signings.......it's like it's unheard of in football and then expect them all to be starting 2 years later..... Defiantly not me that's stupid, I don't know why I sometimes question myself..
What's the total value of transfers in and what's the total value of transfers out under LJ? I admit I don't know but I suspect the 2 totals are quite close
I just used this https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bri...98/plus/?saison_id=2015&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=s I was interested to see how many each manager have signed. But, could be wrong as I have got my Granddaughter waffling in my ear hole for sweets, so lost count three times. Cotts in his 2 years signed 32 players. SoD was 23 players in less than 12 months
I never counted LJ’s so could be more or could be less but others say 65 so I will go along with that.
SoD was on course for 92 signings..had he stayed 4 years then......but hey, let's gloss over that If Jiffie finds that you were one or two out...he will let you know about it, you can be sure!!
