Bryan Ruiz, player of Dutch club FC Twente, talked to the Dutch television after sundays match against Nac Breda and told the reporter that Tottenham contacted his agent.

Looks like Tottenham is going after Ruiz.

From what I've seen of him, he's a tricky player that likes to run with the ball a lot and tends to drop deep and go wide, Lidls.
He's not a target man.

It's paper talk.
Someone ran an article on 606 last season and we were linked with well over 100 players and signed two, one of which we weren't even linked with.
 
A bit more on this story. According to this mornings' Daily Fail, Ruiz himself is claiming that we have made an approach through his agent. He, himself says that he is interested; and, at the moment it's 50/50.
Reportedly, he has a release clause of £13.7mm
Might be another false dawn, but worth keeping an eye on.
 
I hope this isn't true - never trust strikers who succeed in the Netherlands to do well over here, other than Van Nistelrooy, Bergkamp and Van Parsie I can't think of any who have been a success...

Jury is still out on Suarez. But, he could be another success.
 
I don't remember him from our games against them, wasn't there a different striker from Twente that we were linked to last season?


I give it two more days until the papers run out of strikers to link us with and their rumour machine resets. Vieri anyone?

Twentes chairman states that he promised Ruiz last season that if Ruiz would stay in the season 2010-2011 he would get the chairmans cooperation to leave in this transfer window. The chairman says that since he promised this he will stick to his word.
Looks promising for negotiations and the price tag.
 
This guy looks like he could be our last shot at getting a new striker. Reportedly, Espanyol are holding out for Eur 30mm for Osvaldo. Despite a rumoured 20mm bid from Atletico. Llorente seems to have a similarly ridiculous price tag. Looks like we're running out of available options.
 
Has there been any confirmation in the Dutch media that 'Arry was in attendance?

That, to me, would be a indicator...

Whats even more crazy is they're in positions that don't need strengthening! <doh>

...anyway, I only came here looking for "whose"...thinking it said Redknapp in the Netheregions.
 
No confirmation that Harry was present at the game. Just an article on www.voetbalprimeur.nl at 8:37 today in which Van der Vaart says that he would be very happy if Ruiz would join Spurs because Ruiz would add class and refinement. Other words that VdV uses describing Ruiz: Smart, technically able and being able to find and work the free space between defence and midfield.

I agree with VdV's description of Ruiz and would add that Ruiz is not a specialist goal poacher. You can expect him to score 10-12 goals ( a million per goal :-) )
He is not really a wide player either. He is a teamplayer, links up very wel with other players, good passer as well, makes the occasional dribble and is able to get past opponents but is more a passer then a dribbler.
