Maynard and Macheda would be gambles, but out of the four listed would be by far the cheapest. How much money is Jol going to have in January after spending £12 million on Ruiz? I can't imagine we would get enough from AJ to finance either Pav, Rodallega or Gignac...
Good evening everyone, I wanted to take the conversation back to Ruiz rather than writing off our forwads. Did anyone else notice on Monday night following our winning goal, how our new man Ruiz was the first to put his foot on the ball, calm it down, and get us to keep the ball. He has a very mature head on his shoulders, I was very impressed. He needs to learn what to do when being pressed, but he certainly knows what to do when he isn't. Happy days!
Ruiz does have a stunning first touch and ability to bring the ball under control. Something when he gets used to the Prem, will become a more obvious and valuable asset. He has the potential to be a true club hero, with Moussa Dembele. Add in Clint Dempsey and we have a potent Attacking midfield. I say add Frei, and put Dempsey in the striker position and that's an attacking line up to drool over.
Sorry, yeah, you're right. I was thinking of a situation of AJ and Bobby going. If AJ went I wouldn't be hugely opposed to seeing any of that four. EDIT: I would imagine Gignac would be a 6 month loan with the option to buy - I think we very nearly got him on a similar deal (but 12 instead of 6 months) at the end of the last transfer window.
Quite right 2white (say that after a few beers!). He's looking more and more the real deal, a far cry from his first 45 minutes of PL football.
I think Marseille are desperate to get rid, so only a permanent transfer would suit them. A bit like Tevez - Man City scenario. He had a major bust up with the manager (Deschamps?) plus he cost the club an obscene amount of money, money they will be looking to recoup.
I think a few weeks ago it was reported Gignac had picked up an injury one report said out for 4-6 weeks Says its a left thigh tear, same leg he had an operation on in May. What I've like about Ruiz is that I was a bit worried that he was very left-footed and seemed to rely on it too much, but he seems to be able to shield the ball well, good first touch and good control.
Of those four, I'm not keen on Pav - he's blown hot and cold at Spurs and wouldn't come cheap, making him just as big a gamble as Macheda and Maynard in my opinion. Of those two, I'd prefer Maynard (some decent first team experience and possibly ready to step up) to Macheda (youngster who hasn't proved himself at any first team level, and if he was any good Fergie wouldn't be letting him go during a striker injury crisis). I've always liked the sound of Gignac. Is El Hambdoui still available? One day, someone should compile a list of every striker we've been linked with over a twelve month period. I'm just surprised that none of us have made the list - it seems that everyone else has.
BZ has come in for critisim for his performance on Monday, he took a bad knock very early on in the game and I noticed he was limping through out the remainder of the match. I think that had much to do with it. He must be the best player in the PL for taking down the long ball on his chest, it shows the power he has. I think we already have an attak to drool over, we are creating loads of chances and had 29 attempts against Spurs, more than Liverpool on Monday, but the goalkeepers we have faced recently have played a blinder. I hope the Swans keeper on Saturday doesn't do the same, he is a very good keeper and has lightning speed, my only fear of us not getting a result we will deserve.
Well Fergie is apparently willing to let Berbatov go, and we all know he is a quality player. Just because someone can't make the grade at Utd, doesn't make them a bad player. They have Wellbeck, Rooney, Hernandez (when he comes back) and Owen to choose from.
