They did... thanks to a bloke who could kick a ball.

It was a good game, possibly the best ever English rugby game but still, wouldn't say it was anymore exciting to me than Saturday's match at St Mary's.

I appreciate Rugby, but it's not a par with football and also beneath Cricket in my pecking order of sports.

You didn't watch the 2003 World Cup final then? That had action and drama by the bucketload. I'd certainly rather watch international rugby than, say, Stoke.

And just to re-iterate, England won the World Cup, vs Australia, in Sydney. The World Cup ffs.

Surely it can't be difficult to win a world cup in a sport where you can count the number of decent teams on one hand? As for entertainment I think I'd rather watch Pompey play.

The school I went to was big into rugby...they were never that good apart from one year when they won the Schools Cup over here. Needless to say the teachers fell at the feet of the players and my resentment of the sport has grown everyday since.

After playing it a bit at school and watching it in the 1970s-80s, I'm not into Rugby Union anymore, although if I only had the choice of between the two, I'd probably rather watch the England Rugby team than the England Football team.
