Oops...touched a nerve there I fear!! Your post was clearly gloating over the fact that Wales are 2 places above England in the rankings and, to be honest, your rambling attempt to talk your way out of it is quite hilarious. However, I'm not one of those sad people who won't cheer on another British team so I hope Wales get to the final. They have a fine rugby tradition and look to have a very promising young team on the up! (Were you cheering for England in the last 2 World Cup Finals by the way? Just asking )
There is an anti-English sentiment among the Welsh. Its palpable in certain parts. Unfortunate but true.
Yes, you have touched a nerve. My post was not a gloat in any way at all and I would like you to prove otherwise! I am not a gloater, and I never have been. We are 2 places ahead of you, so what. I was mearly stating it for all the rugby fans out there. So, you can carry on laughing all you want, because the next time England play, remind me not to want them to win. Just for the record, I can't say I was "cheering" England to win, but let's just say I was behind them. Just like I was behind them to beat thr French. I predicted a French win, but that was my head talking. My heart wanted a Wales V England semi final but it wasn't to be. Move on. So, please, before you throw around assumptions, read the post. You know nothing about me and you never will, but as I said, I am not a gloater. Was I on here taking the piss out of England because they lost, no. But I am extremly happy that Wales are ranked the best home nation team in the world. So, pleae don't take anything away from us with your continuous ramblings about how much we brag or whatever about beoing where we are!
Swords, and your saying there isn't an anti-welsh thing? Such as the mighty Swans getting to the PL.....Because the English (Not all but a huge amount) wanted us shoved back into the Welsh league. Hmmm.....SO it's all about the Welsh being Anti-English. I don't think so, you'll find it's pretty 50-50. P.s. Don't you read the news tabloids........All pretty much England all the time isn't it? There's FOUR nations, why do we only hear about England? No Wales, Scotland, Or Ireland. oesn't help matters, does it?
"As of today, we are 4th in the world Rankings. NZ first, then OZ, then SA, then WALES, France, ENGLAND. Yep, 2 places ahead of them. YEEHAAAAAA." Mate...you're really making an arse of yourself. That's gloating and everyone can see it is!! Stop protesting so much and enjoy the fact Wales are doing well.
If you have seen it / listened to it already sorry, but just heard it for the first time...... I loves it....
There's a rumour going around that England paid Johnno 5 million quid to coach the rugby team..makes you wonder how much they would have paid for a good one And thats not gloating , just a gentle piss take
I made that point earlier in this thread alright. The British media is effectively the English media, no doubt about that. And you're right, it certainly doesn't help. I presume North Wales is more hostile to England than the South given it seems to be far more "Celtic" for want of a better word. Anyway, we all hope Wales beat France I think its fair to say.
I know how we would feel if we were out now. The English fans have been let-down big time by the actions of the England team on & off the pitch in NZ. I'm quite proud that we're ranked where we are, but even better if we were even higher. You should always strive to be the best. I can't believe we're in a position where we could actually experience it!!
To be honest we've been getting praise from all quarters since Saturday & rightly so!! I include the London-based 'English media' in that. They've really been hammering home the proffessionalism & fitness levels of the Welsh squad, at the same time absolutely slamming the English team!! I can't believe how much credit some of them have give us, no more so than Brian Moore!! So be proud boys, we've possibly got the start of something really special here......
Alain Rolland, the rugby referee, died and went to heaven. Stopped by St Peter at the gates he was told that only brave people who had performed heroic deeds and had the courage of their convictions could enter. If he could describe a situation in his life where he had shown these characteristics, he would be allowed in. "Well," said the ref, "Once, I was controlling a game between Wales and France in the World Cup semi-final. "Wales were two points ahead with a minute to go. Yachvilli made a break, passed inside to Rougerie. Rougerie was driven on by his forwards, before he passed out to Harinordoquy who went over in the corner. "But Harinordoquy dropped the ball before he could ground it. As France were clearly the better side all game and it was such a wonderful move, I ruled that he had got it down and awarded the try." "Ok, that was fairly brave of you, but I will have to check it in the book," said Peter, before disappearing to look it up. When he came back he said: "Sorry, there's no record of this. Can you help me to trace it? When did all this happen?" The ref looked at his watch and replied: "Forty-five seconds ago."
The English rugby hierarchy have long been as half-baked as the football version. To make Johnno the coach with no experience was asking for trouble. His failure to put certain players into 'retirement' shows his lack of vision, our game has stood still if not gone backwards whilst the Welsh game is now finally fulfilling the potential that was there in the Under 19s a while back. It's no co-incidence that the Welsh training pre-tournament has stood them in such good stead, there is a potential here to really go all the way and you really should fear no-one in this tournament. As for England, if Johnson keeps his job we will end up celebrating nothing more than the odd Calcutta Cup win and that may not be that often!
i think its been a while since the welsh were the wrfu. even the nzrfu is now the nzru. if they can change names anyone can
i really dont get all this english media bullshit. the papers need to sell copies to make money..last time i looked there were more people in england than there are in wales and scotland combined so obviously they will be aimed at english readers. the nz version of the express generally has a page on scottish football but no championship coverage, probably because there are lots of scots out here to buy british papers. i am sure the welsh sun looks after welsh stories
