Sorry Vern, but I’d like South Africa to win this semi for two reasons: One, the Welsh have a habit of beating England, so don’t want them in the final. My colleague Kevin will be unbearable; and Two, if England are to win it, I’d like us to have beaten all three of the Southern Hemisphere powerhouses in the knockout stages.

I have to say that playing surface technology these days is incredible. Look at the condition of the pitch that only 24 hours ago hosted the England/NZ game. It’s like a spongy baize.
