Just not quite good enough, tiny margins. The turning point was right at the end when Patchell went for the drop goal. We should have kept plugging it up the middle until we got a penalty. Easy in hind sight of course.

One good thing - we won't have to suffer the humiliation of getting hammered by England in the final! SA could be much better, they have great attacking options but probably will stick with the same game plan. If they do I can see England beating them, if they don't bottle it.

Great effort by the boys but to many injuries to key players is what has been our major downfall. Never mind as we have had a good tournament and even with our injuries we nearly made it....The boys and Gatland can hold their heads up high.. i dont care about 3rd or 4th place as only the winner is remembered and i think England has it in the bag and they will deserve it....NZ up next for Gatlands last game for Wales What a fitting tribute for him...

In many respects, the turning point was Patchell’s failed drop goal attempt. We should have retained the ball and kept building pressure - from that moment, they got the ball and the upper hand, and never relinquished it.....

Very true, we should have plugged away to a better position, it would have take a superbly struck kick to score from where he was under pressure.

Exactly what I said a couple of posts back <whistle>

Although we've come on leaps and bounds in having the confidence not to bottle it or panic anymore, there's still that 1% composure lacking. It makes a big difference at this level. And as Nev says, too far out anyway.

I don't think anyone's having a go at Patchell, just the decision to go for the drop goal when keeping possession would have been the better option.

Not having a go at Patchell personally - just observing that we’d have been better served keeping the ball <cheers>

The Map of the British Isles is being temporarily changed next weekend.

Plaid, the DUP, Sinn Fein and the SNP are all in agreement:

England deserve the WC by a country mile and they will be lifting the trophy at the end of the match i have no doubt about that. They have been awesome in this tournament. They would have beaten Wales as well if they had got through.....You have to admire a good team when you see one and i have been very impressed with England the more i watched them play. I dont even think it will be a close game and England will win by at least 15 points....

Only the final i am really interested in as 3rd and 4th is meaningless and just another money making venture...People only remember the winner as that is what the WC is all about....

3rd/4th playoff wasn't pointless for me when we finished 3rd and beat Aus in '87, I was ecstatic. It may have been for the players but not for me  I was younger then and it was new, however I don't remember anything about the '11 playoff!

The only thing riding on tomorrow's game is we have a chance to beat NZ. As a few of the players playing haven't played much in the WC proper then they may well be up for it.
