He is Col which as you rightly say is really irrelevant.......it was actually quite funny the way he came out as shown in the documentary......in 2007 he co-presented a Welsh language programme with Jonathon Davis who is a very good mate of his and prior to recording he text Davis to say that he was going to be open about being gay and they hatched a plan that he would literally come out of the closet on the show....and that's precisely what he did......the openness was there and it was never an issue with anyone since....... It also helps that in many ways Rugby is one big family and that players and officials will socialise after a game, have a meal and a beer, it is far more social than football will ever be.......
Cheers Nines, that's a good article. Settled in now, with a beverage at hand, really looking forward to this. Now heard the haka 4 times in 10 minutes, 3 in adverts and once in the stadium. That's enough respect. Smash them Aussies!
I've recorded that and hope to watch it some time this week. Here's a nice article about him from today's Telegraph ... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ru...ugby-World-Cup-final-referee-Nigel-Owens.html
Aussies doing really well in defence, number of turnovers is sensational, ferocious breakdowns. But the pressure is relentless, All Blacks have to break through soon......Carter getting hammered.
Hi everyone... As I am currently dressed as Audrey2 from Little shop of horrors in a Spooky hotel in Plately Bridge in Yorkshire... I am counting on u lot to keep me updated on the WC final....I assume Dan Carter is choreographing a fine All Black win?????
6-3 to the All Blacks who started like tanks, but the Aussie defence has been heroic, They can't keep it up for 80 minutes though, need to create something themselves. Mr Carter has been hit very hard and illegally a couple of times. You compatriot the ref is having a fine game. Aussies already lost Giteau and Kane Douglas to injury in the first 30 minutes. Keiron Reed doesn't look fit for the all Blacks, knackered ankle. It's brutal stuff. Aussie line out has been U12 standard, but they look stronger in the scrum.
Massive task for the Aussies now, history is against them and the All Blacks are giving them no respite.
All Blacks are just too good!! Carter is a kicking machine. Poor from the officials to miss both an All Black forward pass and an All Black knock on. They do always seem to get the decisions.
I think that just about does it, 16-3 looks insurmountable for the Oz. Carter kicking like a machine and the hits have had no effect. Can see a rout if NZ get an early score in the 2nd half...
Aussies could have got a yellow or two as well, but unlucky with injuries. Have to say this pundit panel is class, I'm learning about the tactics all the time. Shame about the adverts.
Can't see the Aussies getting back from here....All Blacks are class.......doubtful about the forward pass but its all about physics apparently.......
I've read people who know a lot more about rugby than me call them the greatest team ever, and I'm not going to argue with that. They can win anyway they want, mad talent like v France or percentages like v SA. I have a feeling we may see both versions in this game, may start to cut loose now. Having said all that Aussies get one back and NZ down a man for 10 minutes......
