Anyone who has played even as a schoolboy knows a bit Wats. Hadn't thought about the 22 clearance - agree in terms of skill but it does cut down on the tedious punting it back and forth up and down the pitch. Italy stepping it up a bit now, but some good Canadian defence.
Yeah I used to think it was a stupid rule when I played. As a forward I seemed to spend half my life waiting for a line-out to be thrown in. I'd hope if they scrapped the 22 rule it would encourage more running with the ball but you're probably right and they'd just smash it down the park.
Who is the Scottish bloke doing the co-commentary? He's been very good at some of the technical stuff and highlighting the impact of the floating surface at Elland Road. Home of the MASSIVE Leeds Utd, as if you needed reminding.
Canadians going mental at the beginning of the second half, two excellent tries, though the second may be ruled out for a forward pass. This is fun.
Canada really giving Italy a game, 15-13 up and just had a try disallowed. Italy will have to work to get anything out of this match...
Canada definitely deserve to win this one, handling mistakes are coming because they are playing fast, enterprising rugby. I like Hirayama their fly half. Apparently has only played about 20 full games since the last world cup as they play a lot of sevens in Canada (which shows in the way they play). If a decent club took him on and taught him to kick better he could be a real asset.
They're certainly far better in handling and running the ball, as you say if Hirayama kicked better they'd be in front. Looks like the Eyeties are trying to grind out the last five minutes...
Boks look much more up for it today but only ahead through an interception and Samoa always dangerous.
I think the ref, who is very good indeed, is getting sick of the South Africans asking for TMO reviews every 30 seconds.
The rules of rugby are quite clear. Gaelic nonsense just appears to be 30 or so blokes in a field kicking seven bells out of each other with a ball somewhere in the middle which may or may not help the teams win points depending on which rules have been made up that day.
