So it's meaningless in a discussion about rugby league.

I was talking about rugby as a whole and I think most of this thread is meaningless.

I know, that's why I pointed out lumped together numbers mean nothing.

RL fans should get on and enjoy it for what it is, not what it isn't. Pointing out when they're trying to do that isn't pointless, them doing it is.

Outside the North of England, Rugby League isn't even popular in the British Isles, let alone the world.

France? If they got a league, why do they have subsidised team of Aussies playing in the m62 league?

There are apparently five tiers of rugby league in France, the Catalan Dragons play in the European Super League and I have no idea where their players are from.

Five tiers of leagues must be very low level and low numbrrs if they can't muster a pro-league for themselves and have to travel to pit villages over here. The Google find doesn't seem to support a claim of being popular.

    Indeed.

In fact when a rugby league world cup is due, countries put forward how incapable they are of staging it. Then they all cross their fingers and hope they're not picked to host it.

The losing host country then blames the north of England for forcing them to host it.

But they demand the north of England pays some of the hosting costs. Hence the astronmical price of a boxed tuna sandwich at Hartshead Moor services...

    So it evens out y'know.

The five tiers thing gives a deceptive impression of rugby league in France. It gets very little media attention and is very much plays second fiddle to union. It wasn't that long ago that the French were more bothered about their rugby union national team than their football one.
It is worth having a quick read about rugby league in France and the reason for its demise. A socialist league fan I know who does tend to go over the top about the class thing in rugby lent me a book about it. League was most popular in the south and the union people took advantage of Vichy France's wish to curry favour with the Nazis by banning rugby league, which was associated with the working class and therefore socialists and in addition was a British Sport. So was football but the Germans liked football but weren't bothered about rugby of any code. The assets of the rugby league clubs were confiscated and never returned.

<laugh> For the record, I really couldn't give less ****s about how popular rugby league is in France.

Or anywhere else for that matter.

Neither could most other people in the world. They expressed their disinterest in less posts though.

You've posted daft arguments on something you now claim to be not interested in! How ridiculous is that?

I've been replying to specific points because I have an interest. If I had no interest, I wouldn't post, because, as you've shown, it's dull and pointless.

So why post about it having five tiers? That gives the impression you are trying to say it must be pretty popular in France, which it isn't. And, unless you have a great knowledge and interest in these things, something you looked up as most people would be unaware of it. Or unaware of what the five tiers actually entail. As you will be without further googling.

There was a suggestion that France didn't have any rugby leagues of their own, I merely pointed out that they did.

Beyond that I'm giving no ****s.

You mean you went to the trouble of looking it up in order to argue about something you don't give a **** about?
