I agree with this. Still, JR is in the perfect place to convince Dave Watson that he's fully fit again & worthy of his place in the squad for Brazil; racking up a few clean sheets for City will also help the cause & please us all in the process! .
Will be interesting g to see what happens with hart at Man City. They're currently linked with about 4 different keepers if harts gets replaced as no. 1 there in January the whole thing has to become wide open. Could we start the World Cup with a keeper who hasn't played much competitive football for 6 months? Butland doesn't seem close to the England team really, I think Hodgson bought the hype and really his display against Italy was pretty up impressive. Especially competed to ruddy who I felt had a great game. I'm pretty sure Hart, Ruddy and Forster will be on the plane to the World Cup they seem very settled in those positions now. I imagine ruddy will play a friendly next year too. I get playing what you. Consider to be a full strength team against Germany.
Personally I thought it was important to get Forster in for his first England cap, I wouldn't take it as a slight towards Ruddy.
I see JR never got on the pitch last night. If the guy can't get a game in a meaningless friendly, when the likes of Gibbs,Cleverly, Lallana,Barkley,Henderson and Lambert can, I really do fear for his chances for Brazil. Can someone please convince me I am wrong.
Dave Watson gets to see him every day so he wouldn't learn as much about him as he would by watching the others
I can't convince you I'm afraid as I'm no convinced myself... However, the world cup is still nearly eight months away and we have another friendly in March against Denmark, followed by several more warm-ups I would imagine. If Ruddy gets plenty of clean sheets between now and March (which is our best run of fixtures) and Hart stays on the bench for City, I wouldn't completely write it off. Obviously a lot of "ifs" there though...
the BBC seem to think ruddy's place is under threat from either Foster or Butland, the latter because he is young and should go to Brazil for the experience. To me the Foster link is unknown until he returns from injury.
The way Robert Green destroyed his career playing for England i am not too fussed about Ruddy`s inclusion to be honest, the ridiculous pressure that our media put on England players and the manager is sickening.
I am an admirer of JR as he is a fantastic talent but he really hasn't been pulling up any trees this season (so to speak) especially by his high standards of 12+ months ago He's got his club games to impress those selectors who need impressing and (as already said) Forster deserved his chance given his consistent form over the past couple of seasons (albeit in a less competitive league)
